ONE PIECE - Episodes 15 & 16 (EARLY UNCUT REACTION)

Syrup Village Arc! (East Blue Saga)

Comments

"Zoro looks like he's been attacked by an angry cat." ... I mean he actually was, wasn't he? :D

Mr. Pibortot

Kuro said a few episodes ago the fathers deaths was natural but the mother wasn't

Cube Pylum

You will shock we the time comes when you see the animetion one piece fight 💪

William Loyd Pulaos

yes im finaly here

William Loyd Pulaos

The thing is, plenty of characters don't say much, but those tend to be of the calm and calculated type (which Luffy is not), and when they're the MC we usually get some thoughts from them. In an earlier video, you said how you'd been told that Luffy's thoughts were rarely revealed - but that's not exactly true. What Oda said in a Q&A is that he purposefully gives Luffy NO inner dialogue in the manga, because he's so honest that if he shows a feeling then that's just what he is feeling. No extra complications, no switcheroos, what Luffy feels is on his face. From what I understand, it was an intentional decision on Oda's part. And it's been true in my experience - I'm 800 chapters in or so, and I can't remember a single time when Luffy's thoughts were told through inner dialogue

Light of the Broken Crystal

To be fair, it was only obvious to some of us that picked on the Jaw hint, and a one sec shot when it's clearly Morgan's face. A lot of people only realize it because Morgan name-dropped having captured Kuro in the Live Action , or posts like yours

Zarathos Daimaoh

It's always amazing how Luffy went "you're not fit to be a pirate", and Kuro is basically like "Dude it's already agreed upon, the whole plan was so that i could stop being one". Kuro's pirate pride only flared up when compared to Usopp and being found inferior

Zarathos Daimaoh

The characters’ themes are also character songs performed by their actors. Still trying to figure out which Luffy’s is but his earlier songs were Everyone Peace and Wanted!!. Zoro has Eyes of Zoro and Spirit of Zoro, I think the latter was his leitmotif. Nami has Music (leitmotif) and Between the Wind, finally Usopp has Usopp*Drop and Usopp no Hanamichi, not sure which his leitmotif comes from. I’ll speak of others as they get introduced.

Tamara Burt

Btw, it escapes a lot of people, but the marine's jaw who was crushed by Kuro, was Axe Hand Morgan, that's how he got promoted

Desolate Garden

An important note is that you will hear the word Nakama thrown a lot. The litteral meaning is partners or companions, in the world of pirates or seafearing nakama are the crew, but you will see it translated as friends because for Luffy (and the effects of the story itself) those are synonyms, but not for many other captains. Its a big point of discussion inside the story.

Valto

45:36 "Nakama", arguable the most important word in One Piece. It doesn't exactly translate into "friend", it's more like crew mate, colleague, comrade. But for Luffy and the Strawhat crew it's more than that. It's like family.

B.G.

29:30 That's one of most the interesting things about Luffy, he's not really a meddling type of hero. He is always ready to help, but he won't force himself into a situation. Personal freedom and autonomy is of great importance to him.

B.G.

"Fun fact": Jango goatee isn't hair, but actually a mushroom that just happened to grow there.

B.G.

Since you love the OP song so much (as you should), you should react to the live performance of the OG singer on the One Take YT channel. Link: https://youtu.be/HB4iNVa746E

B.G.

Luffy is just best undestood through actions, he doesnt say a word about himself ever

Harsh Varute

I think "raw fish" was just a weird translation. Google translate is something like, "sliced open like a catfish, writhing in agony" maybe not as kid friendly lol

Cameron

I mean that works because he's voiced by an asian Grandma lol https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayumi_Tanaka

Cameron

53:08 get ready for that feeling probably another 900 times no joke 🤣

Gabriel Irizarry

The cool thing about One Piece characters is that they sometimes have 2 or more backstories, Luffy, in particular. It works in keeping the characters interesting, considering the length of the story.

Sarai

luffy is one of a kind MC.

reddnik

Throughout the serie there is character which is pretty much a panda-man that always shows up in the background. It's fun to keep your eye out for it while watching, kinda like a mini game lol from this 2 episode he was in in ep 16, as one of Kuro's man

Heart D Lion

It's funny to think Captain Kuro's plan was actually really good and well executed he just rolled snake eyes having Luffy and them land on that island lol

Christopher Velasquez

They’re always busted up in their fights 😂 and once again I love how deep you look into every show you react to! Amazing reaction as always

Kcosta

YESS. Very cool. Like I mentioned, that silence is LOUD 😅

Jessica McCann

Oh interesting - thanks!

Jessica McCann

Hahahaha!!

Jessica McCann

😂😂☠️

Jessica McCann

lol I get a lot of joy out of imagining those kinda of things. 💗😂 and all the potential ways it went wrong and his reaction the first time he nailed the move.

Jessica McCann

I mentioned it on your first One Piece reaction video but Luffy is very "No thoughts, only Punch!" and it's very different for an MC because usually the MC is presented as the good guy who's supposed to be inspirational and fighting for all the right reasons. What's different about Luffy is, he's a Pirate, technically he's not inspirational or fighting for the right reasons, he's fighting for Luffy and Luffy's dreams and at the moment in the series, that's all he cares about. He's also kind of dumb.. lol, he's a man of little words because he doesn't know very many so he let's his fists speak for him.

Dean Morton

It’s actually very funny to imagine Zoro sheathing and unsheathing his swords like 10204659202 times as practice so he can have more aura when he fights 🤣

Daniel Lee

Same, I don't missed the color of atacks but definitely miss seeing the word nakama being written there

Diego Francisco Torres Ortiz

Luffy is basically an asian grandma you meet on the street.. he'll judge you to hell and back lol

deranged but not really

In one of the original fansubs of One Piece, the word "nakama" was never translated, as it holds a specific significance to the lore of the show. It was supposed to mean crew mate, friend, comrade, and so much more at the same time according to the original subbers. They also animated the font for fighting moves in the show, and it makes me miss the old fansub days lol.

Alex P

Yes finally One Piece and finally im here! Really want to revive all this chapter!!! ty!

marianoNex

Catptain Kuro: Let's fight with swords on a cliff and yell about our ideologies! Luffy: (•_•)

VoiceOfVoorhees

Remember, the sun rises in the east, and sets in the west. As long as it isn't literally high noon, and you can see the sun, or shadows that it makes, you can find your way. Also, Never Eat Soggy Waffles.

Alex Hencher

You are pretty spot on with Luffy and as the series goes on his whole stare at folks thing will continue. It's kind of his thing. Also the whole not trying to talk no jutsu your enemy is part of the reason I love Luffy as a mc. Man says cool your ideals vs mine lets box and see who comes out on top

Ben

Luffy is a simple yet confident character. He is very observant, and despite his somewhat naive behavior, he pays close attention to everything happening around him that matters. If he has decided that he must act, then he will do so no matter what.

Icenight

This opening is krillens ring tone in dbz

Donovan

Just as an FYI. There's really no need to keep putting the S behind "Devil" in "Devil Fruit from now on. That was just a weird episode 1 thing that they said Devils and not just Devil. Just wanted to let you know :)

Richafa

They're severely injured in almost every arc lol. Your analysis of Luffy is great. One of the most powerful things about Luffy's silent stare is that he forces the villains to reflect their actions and judge themselves as opposed to an MC speech about how you should be a better person. Which most villains brush off anyways. You can't brush off your own self doubt and loathing.

jakob thurman

Totally valid point. My point is that some of these blank stares, especially earlier in the anime, are uncomfortably long, even for Luffy.

Tabo51

In episode 10, when Jango and Kuro meet, Jango says something about Kuro killing off the whole rich family. Kuro responds with "Hey now, the father's death was real." Implying that he killed Kaya's mother.

hurryupmode

I kinda disagree with you just a little. Who knows maybe they do use Luffy staring as a way to drag on a little but there a many moments in the future where Luffy just stares and stays quite while some one else is he.ling or saying something. I’m pretty sure those stares aren’t just to drag a few seconds. Especially bc it is something he does a lot and is used to make a point in the scene and those scenes are canon. Maybe they drag it on more than necessary but Luffy definitely stares a lot and is done to make a point and show what type of person he is. I don’t want to mention future scenes bc it’ll spoil it for her but it is very much in character for Luffy to stare and stay quite and purposefully look intensely while another person is going off and Rambling and Luffy look is more impactful then him talking back. Hes someone who does shows through his actions then to talk a lot compared to other Characters.

Kiki Varas

The man that "captured" kuro was axe hand morgan, and the iron jaw is from the when kuro stepped on his jaw ;)

Magnus Dalemark

The thing that houses the swords are called scabbards or sheaths. And incase you missed it, the marine that has his jaw broken bu Kuro was Captain Morgan. It was briefly mentioned in ep 2 that he was the one that "caught" Kuro.

Omokage23

In response to your analysis of Luffy. You're pretty on point, though I must admit that some of those Luffy stares appear to be stalling for run time since these anime episodes are trucking through 3-4 chapters of manga at a time. It was an 80's/90's thing to start the anime concurrently with the manga that will eventually run into pacing issues. Two things I wanted to mention from this reaction. First, the way Zoro sheathed his swords is, unfortunately, not canon. I'll just leave it at that. Secondly, the lone surviving Marine that Capt. Kuro kept alive was actually Captain Morgan, the conceited Captain at Shells Town where Luffy met Zoro. We got to see why he ended up with a metal jaw.

Tabo51

Did you recognize the marine whose jaw was shattered and they hypnotized to believe captured Captain Kuro? Who do we know with a metal jaw and an out of control ego?

hurryupmode

Kuro think he's Aizen

Klizer

Fun fact: the marine Kuro let go in that flashback was Axe-Hand Morgan
