For me, this episode is a turning point, but in a very negative way. While at the beginning of the anime I had to hold myself back from binge-watching the whole thing at once, I ended up quitting this episode halfway through and only came back to finish it days later.

2025-02-19 05:12:57 +0000 UTCI enjoy Flexies reactions a lot but in the case of Death Note I sometimes get the feeling that she doesn't pick up on the more subtle clues laid out. It's really understandable though because the anime did muddle the water a lot with certain scenes. While watching the anime for the first time, I also missed a lot of stuff which is far more noticeable in the manga. This is not me saying that one is superior to the other, both just handle the same things differently (at least during the first half). At this point in the story Light being Kira is not something L suspects. It's something he knows with certainty and his challenge is to prove it to everyone else. He himself knows it to be true which is why ironically enough the police force is his biggest enemy and, one could say, his biggest obstacle to overcome. Light isn't just a suspect to L which is why he felt the need to confront him face-to-face. It's also why Lights plan never involved him trying to prove his innocence to L. He knew from the get-go this couldn't work because L already had him completely figured out. No, Lights goal is different, obviously. Otherwise he would be stupid. And it's also why Rem as a character is basically the worst thing in Death Note, but we will get to that in time.๐

The only thing that has been confirmed so far is that the new Kira who has the Death Note only has the Death Note because light planned for that. That was stated by Rem I think last episode. That is the only specific detail that we know for certain that light planned.

There's no other evidence that supports that anyone else on the entire planet is kira. That is why he is so obsessed with light being kira. You have to remember that misa's hair was found on the second Kira tapes, which is the only physical evidence that they have on kira. So as of now, light being Kira and Misa being the second Kira is the most likely possibility out of all possible suspects that exist on the entire planet. It's the only evidence they have.
