I personally would do the exact same thing Light did and clean up the world, but I wouldn’t draw the attention he brought to himself because of his ego. I wouldn’t try to become a god or anything, no one would need to know it was me. I’d be happy just cleaning the world of trash people from the shadows.

2024-12-28 20:52:17 +0000 UTCI feel what Light is saying that "no one would use the Death Note." No one would dare. Everyone would refrain, would stop themselves. Everyone would come up with a reason for not using it, for example "it is wrong." It is wrong to use it. So... out of a million people no one would use it - except Light would. Light is the only one who would dare use it. He is saying... would you chop off someone's head, would you stab them in the heart, would you electrocute them? No. You wouldn't. Would you judge people. Would you decide who lives and who dies? No, you wouldn't. Anyone who would do it, who would try to do it... will have serious guilt and doubt... and all those issues for doing that, for judging people and executing people. Absolutely no one would willingly do this to themselves, no one would give themselves this responsibility on purpose. Except Light sees a way through, he believes he can do it. He believes he is capable of this monumental task. He thought about it seriously. It happened quickly but we saw all of that. He seriously considered what it means to judge and execute people. Again, no one would do this. Oh and he expected to be damned for it. He expected punishment. And he did it anyway. That's what it means to do it... this heinous act. He was prepared for his soul to be condemned.

He's technically doing "good", but the intent behind it is what makes it feel so evil. I'm eager to see what you think as he develops in future episodes.

I've seen it multiple times, and it got me thinking about moral dilemmas at a young age. I am happy to rewatch it after many years here. You are very observant, I noticed it in JJK videos and it is the reason I subscribed to you. It doesn't matter if you don't get everything, I mostly like you are paying attention and are analytical even if you are wrong, have fun!

That being said, there's a few early episodes you should not watch subbed because I've seen subtitles spoil certain things. I can't explain without giving it away, but I believe it's episodes 5, 6 and 7. Subtitles might reveal the name of a character you're not supposed to know.

It’s somehow never directly translated in a lot of the versions I’ve seen, although it is said a LOT. That’s my only point, I KNOW you’re gonna love this.

This was my favourite anime from its release date until this year, when Frieren replaced it. It had a good run for lots of reasons, though. I think you’ll love it. Death Note does need attention, as you said, and also rewards it. More than that, though, it raises a LOT of moral questions that are worth exploring even separately from the show. Obvious one here: is it ok to use the death note to kill people you deem to be “bad people”? I’m excited to see you react to this because you ask yourself those moral questions whether you’re watching MHA or JJK or whatever, so I’m assuming you’ll do the same here (no pressure lol you do you). I love to see those things going on in a reactor’s mind. There’s a lot to grapple with and no easy answers, but that will come. Enjoy getting into it for now and see where it takes you. I hope you enjoy the ride. PS, isn’t it nice to start a new series and not have to learn a ton of new names and character facts right off the bat? I appreciate that lol

If the death note were to exist, if there was a possibility of being able to kill killers, rapists, to put an end to dictators, terrorists, men of power who do evil, to be able to end wars, and if all this had no consequences for the user. If this note were to end up in your hands. Would you use it? And if it ended up in the hands of a person who uses it to eliminate the people I wrote about above, would you be with or against him? I thought about it for a long time, and I found my own answer. While watching this anime, I hope to hear yours.
