2025-09-30 22:29:17 +0000 UTCLate to the party here, and I'm not a ballerina, but I am a classically trained musician so the arts in general are very important to me. Seeing acro silky dance in that scene had such emotion that was portrayed with the music and the movements. It really touched me. Even if I don't know the moves, I can see and feel them with the music, and it spoke of love and pain. I cry every time I see it

2024-12-24 08:34:31 +0000 UTCThis episode is so good but ya know how a show will change up the ED for a one off, or have the credits play over top of the last minute of an episode sometimes? I feel like this one really would have benefitted from something like that. Cutting from that ending right to Granny playing with the hairdryer feels really jarring and out of place lol

2024-11-27 02:19:49 +0000 UTCThis is my favourite episode so far. I’m not a big fan and I wouldn’t be watching still without your reactions to watch as well. This episode I really loved though. It was tragic but beautiful.

2024-11-23 18:28:12 +0000 UTCOne of the things I saw mentioned is, that in the middle portion of the flashback when the camera is spinning around showing the life of the mother and daughter together being happy, its spinning around and bobbing up and down... like the pov of a ballerina music box

2024-11-21 05:30:48 +0000 UTCI didnt realize she went off a building dam. Yes this episode and that whole stuff was a masterpiece of a bit.

2024-11-20 09:28:08 +0000 UTCI feel so sad and sorry for the mum and her daughter. Both those lives are ruined, but at least she got to save another one. The whole flash back sequence and ballerina stuff was really good. Like that pretty high quality stuff i didnt expect to see in this.

2024-11-16 21:59:46 +0000 UTCYou got one thing wrong. She wasnt murdered. The sound you hear at the end of her ballet dance was her hitting the floor after jumping off a building. You can see the skyline of the city blurred in the background to show that she is somewhere high up.This is made especially clear since everything after that is her being a spirit. They took the one thing she lived for away from her and she wasn't able to go on without her daughter. I love the similarity of the sound of Aira hugging her and the sound of her hitting the ground. This show is so amazing at contrasting things. Both sounds portray a very intense impact, one emotional the other one physical, one happy loving and healing and one sad, depressed and destructive. This episode in particular is a masterpiece in my opinion. And I thank you so much for sharing your backstory on why this impacted you so much. I was in tears the whole video.

2024-11-16 11:13:06 +0000 UTCYes, I appreciated it very much. Dandadan and ScienceSARU have so much respect for the audience's intelligence and sensibility, and I love that.

2024-11-16 11:03:43 +0000 UTCThis episode and specifically the flashback sequence highlights how anime can elevate the source material on so many levels. For example, if you take a closer look at the scene where the camera rotates and bobs showing scenes from their daily life, and the wistful music plays in the background - we're seeing their life from the perspective of a ballerina music box. Like one of those old toys that you wind up and open, and there's a tiny ballerina rotating inside and a bit of music is playing. You couldn't achieve that on the panels of a manga. What Science SARU did was a masterful use of the animated medium to elevate a great story to legendary heights. Science SARU has some actual geniuses and masters of art working for them.

2024-11-16 10:59:05 +0000 UTCThis episode hit so hard in so many ways, I was dreading you watching this episode but, the pink hue in connection with aria and the backstory of the spirit was amazing. Your reaction was incredible, I hope your doing well.

2024-11-16 09:45:09 +0000 UTCOne little detail I appreciate about this episode/chapter is that there was no unnecessary fuss about lips touching lips during the CPR part. It was treated with the urgency and desperation it deserved, could've easily been a throwaway gag in some other shows

2024-11-16 07:40:11 +0000 UTCI watched this episode before work and knew I had to watch your reaction when I got home! Didn't know I was gonna cry before work but Anime like's to throw those curve balls sometimes. Having more details now, what stars aligned for this episode to be the first you watch in your new home? What Anime God knew you wanted to start watching Sports Anime and thought "You know what she needs, an unnecessarily relatable scenario in Anime about her personal life, that'll get her watching the sports!" Hahah Like, damn! I knew you'd relate to this episode but not nearly as much as you did!

2024-11-16 07:29:41 +0000 UTCI knew you were a Professional Ballerina since about the time you started watching the Chunin Exam Arc on Naruto. I also knew you wanted to keep it separate from the channel. I watched this episode when it came out and was blown away. It was not what I expected when watching Dan Da Dan. Then I thought to myself, holy crap this episode will hit Flexie hard.

2024-11-16 07:25:48 +0000 UTCThe music really sold it for me. The haunting, yet beautiful melody, on top of the stunning animation blew my mind.

2024-11-16 04:22:07 +0000 UTCI watched this episode, cried, then came here to cry some more🥲 Happy you got that Silky wasn't Airas actual mother, some reactor's didn't get that (tbf the manga makes it more clear than in the anime). I was totally flored by this episode, they really managed to highlight the emotions more in the anime. One of my weak spots is mothers protecting their children (I know, really hot take), as well as women having each other's back (lmao). So thats something I really enjoy with Dandandan (both the anime and manga). I feel (or at least I want it to be true) that TB (turbo granny) is putting on a hard front, but actually is sympathetic to Silky as a victimised woman. So I get more of a 'grumpy resigned' vibe than an 'I dont care' vibe. But idk 🤷♀️ Also, holy shit the VAs are poping off. Didn't notice it on the first watch, but Aira's dad voice crack when he tells her "her mother went somewhere far away", god damn. Thats some subtle acting for an anime

2024-11-16 01:52:01 +0000 UTCThank you for sharing what you were able to regarding your mom. It seems like it wasn’t easy to say what you did. What a gorgeous story. Also, your perspective of this as a ballet dancer yourself, it’ll probably be the most unique take I’ll see of this episode. Bet you never thought DAN DA DAN of all shows would have you in tears, lol! But also, the mom dancing was actually her dancing on top of a building, as you can see the other buildings in the background. She… ummm… danced herself off the building, and that’s the horrifying thud you hear at the end of that. So tragic.

2024-11-16 01:16:30 +0000 UTCThere are so many things I could say in regards to either this episode or your reaction to it, but I feel like I'd be walking over well-trodden ground given the online discourse over the last 24 hours. So, I'll stick to just a couple things: 1: It's been bugging me all day, but I've finally realized what the backstory reminded me of. The "Once upon a December" scene from Anastasia. The dancing, the beautiful yet somber waltz, and of course the tragic nature of it all. 2: Thanks for letting us in to your life a just a little. It's not lost on me (and I'm sure many others here) how tough building and audience is while keeping that level of separation. It's very much appreciated.

2024-11-16 00:56:18 +0000 UTCIt is tragic and idk what her situation was. But as a professional - I just want to clarify that I know several women who have started families while returning to the stage at the professional level. Literal super women lol So it is possible - but my guess is that she wasn't a professional.. and didn't have that kind of support from a company or had to stop " chasing her dream " so to speak... :(

2024-11-16 00:45:49 +0000 UTCI guess she had to sacrifice a career in ballet when she got pregnant. And I assume it is really difficult to make money with it while caring for a baby. So she sacrificed it for her daughter and she then had to do two jobs and still sell her body to just meet ends at the end of the month. And the tragic part for me is: The most important part for her was ballet but she had to give up on it for her daughter. She then did everything for her "new" most important part in life. Her daughter and she tried everything to give her the best possible life. But her most important part got taken again and all she could do was do her former favorite part in life one last time before ending it all.

2024-11-16 00:39:56 +0000 UTCHey Flexi, sorry that some people are being plane jerks in the comments. You are managing everything greatly, with all changes in your life. Do not let such negativity impact yourself or your love for anime. We support you here and wish the best for you.✨

2024-11-15 22:55:24 +0000 UTCThe entitlement. You must think the world revolves around you. Might as well leave and never come back. This is a wholesome community and we want to keep it that way. Also she has a personal life, everyone does. Just because you are free and jobless and entitled and narcissistic, don’t reflect on other people in same manner. Asshole

2024-11-15 22:48:15 +0000 UTCIt’s not everyday you hear from a professional ballerina. Hearing your personal connections with a unique profession was very moving. As someone who lost his mom recently this episode hits especially hard for me.

2024-11-15 21:29:12 +0000 UTCThe story telling of acro silky's backstory is just so good. One of the most well done and perfect examples of "show don't tell" writing I've ever seen. Absolutely blew me away

2024-11-15 20:31:29 +0000 UTCA beautiful tragedy. This is why I love reactions so much, we get to see and experience people's views who have such different walks in life. Even something as simple as watching Spy Family, as an example, with a couple who has a young child is so different. Thank you for sharing with us Flexie.

2024-11-15 20:29:53 +0000 UTCI still wished they showed her jump from a building like in the manga. There is just one frame where you can see her being on the edge of a building. But I kinda expected it since Japan is kinda shy to show suicide.

2024-11-15 20:28:37 +0000 UTCYeah I had a feeling that this episode and backstory was going to be esp. meaningful and you’d have a unique perspective on it given your profession. Lovely reaction and thank you for sharing as always.

2024-11-15 20:21:56 +0000 UTCAfter watching this yesterday I was nervous but excited to see your reaction knowing about your background as a Ballerina from what you have told us. Thank you for sharing more of your life with us <3 This by far is one of the most beautiful but heartbreaking anime episodes I've ever seen. In the manga they explain/show how she died, as to here they leave it up too interpretation which still fits perfectly. That scene where she is dancing with the stars is actually on a rooftop. She danced one last time knowing that she would never she her daughter again before jumping of the roof killing herself.
Andy Hinton
2024-11-15 20:03:46 +0000 UTCWhen she is dancing under the stars near the end she was still alive, dancing across the rain-soaked roof of a building after her daughter was taken. Her final leap into the air is her leaping off of the building, she then sees the flashback of her daughter saying she loves her as she’s falling and the loud thud is her hitting the ground. This part was made harder to notice in the anime due to censorship but in the manga they show it very clearly. Everything else was vastly improved and extended for the anime tho.

2024-11-15 18:06:20 +0000 UTCI've been waiting for this Reaction for hours. Having read the manga (which is a little different, they did much better here), I knew that a Ballerina like you would feel strong emotions for this episode. Yokai are nothing more than Restless Spirits, that woman did everything to make her daughter happy, transmitting her passion for dancing, and she ended up like that. Every time I watch the episode I cry like a baby.

2024-11-15 17:47:16 +0000 UTCYour insight as a ballerina is really unique and special - I love that they respected and represented the art form so well! Such a beautiful and tragic story. Momo is a true spirit medium now just like her Granny, I like to think all 3 of them saw each other's story and it gave Acro Silky the peace her heart needed to finally rest.
DietPop
2024-11-15 17:45:49 +0000 UTCThanks for sharing all that. That must've been such a haunting experience for you to watch. Crazy, and good to know that they paid reverence to the art of ballet. This show blows me away.

2024-11-15 17:23:55 +0000 UTCHow would Aira know that? People take that far too literal. She's probably dead though
Erik Nilsson
2024-11-15 17:22:45 +0000 UTCVery cool getting your take on the dancing as someone with a lot of knowledge on the subject. I think at its core Dandadan is a love story and a story about teens becoming adults. Two things that are intense and all over the place emotionally. You've got the funniest thing that ever happened to you juxtaposed to something sad you never think you can recover from. So i think the wild all over the place narrative and tone is really apt.

2024-11-15 16:57:45 +0000 UTCPls read the manga chapters too. There were quite a bit of creative changes that the studio made for this anime due to Japanese TV being sensitive with graphic topics. They took a more subtle and tasteful approach here but still a gut punch. This episode is a quick read, chapter 16 and 17, but it’s just as beautiful.
