It is hilarious that (most) mimics pose no threat to Frieren, so she's willing to get nibbled on by one if it means she might find a grimoire.

And I also find it interesting what Ubel said during the first exam - that the kind of magic a mage uses is strongly related to the kind of person they are and the life they led. Like Wirbel is a soldier, so he has quick-firing offensive spells, but he also has Sorganeil because he needs to prepare himself to kill in a 1v1, Denken has big flashy spells that project power because he's an Imperial Mage and needs to make an impression, and so on. I think it's brilliant that the author of Frieren didn't just come up with a magic system, but also how it would change over time (Zoltraak becoming obsolete being a great example), and how different people would choose to approach and use magic. It's such a joy to just keep discovering more about this world and its characters :)
