2025-03-19 21:15:57 +0000 UTCNot exactly: "SD:MI was 2 seasons. If you could have created a 3rd season, what would you have done differently Iwith the show? Would you have ended it differently? Mitch Watson: I wouldn’t have ended the show any different. Tony and I always intended it to end like it did. We did actually work out what would happen if there was a third season (which they wanted overseas where the show was a global hit but unfortunately it never happened.) If you’ve watched the whole series you know that SDMI was a prequel to the original series in the 60’s. Our plan was to pick up the third season with the gang driving off to meet Harlan Ellison at college and solving mysteries along the way with many of the classic monsters popping up. We were also going to introduce a brand new long term mystery that revolved around the college. We had it ready to go but unfortunately two seasons was it." The creators did write up a plot for a third season, but like they said, it wasn't planned when they made the ending of season 2. The last scene we got was MEANT to be the last scene that the whole show was building up to. And even the writers still feel it was the ending they wanted.

2025-03-19 19:52:26 +0000 UTCWe read somewhere online that someone says that. However they thought they mentioned some old time billians they caught before in the past so it wouldn't make any sense. Also read that there was a plot for Season 3 but cartoon network cancelled it

2025-03-19 19:33:09 +0000 UTCLike someone said, the ending only makes sense if you're familiar with the old, old original Scooby Doo cartoon, where they just drove around the country in a van solving mysteries for no specified reason. The last scenes are meant to retroactively give context to the OG show. (and you're just supposed to ignore the modern technology, I guess) The scene where they're sitting around Velma's laptop watching the video is a direct reference to an iconic shot from the original theme song (except it was a book) to help hammer that in.

2025-03-19 19:14:42 +0000 UTCThat laugh track at the end was also reminisce to the first one “Scooby Doo where are you” indicating Mystery incorporated was a prequel to basically all the scooby doo movies you’ve watched. Everything just soft reboots so that the continuity from the last timeline could be retconned
