I knew "burned" was a choice, but I used "you're playing with fire / someone's gonna get hurt" for a very specific reason... one that won't be apparent for a couple of pages yet. And then, when you re-read the entire chapter, you'll probably pick up on it a little easier. (If I did a good job.)
