Queen's Brothel Made in Godot

Hi there! I've been learning the Godot game engine for the past 3 Mondays and have quickly realized how much I am missing out on. The Godot engine offers so many tools that are very very easy to learn (assuming you know a little bit about game development already) and I'd like to get your thoughts on the future of Queen's Brothel.

My main problem with the Phaser engine is the lack of support for containers. It is impossible to create a scrollable container in Phaser. You have to use HTML, which is overlaid on top of the game instead of within the game screen. Anything that is scrollable in Queen's Brothel is not game engine code, it is HTML. I started using HTML in Queen's Brothel because of how difficult it is to create UI.

Here comes Godot, which supplies me with containers that work how you think they would. You have a container node, and you can put anything you want in it. Not only that, you can set up a grid system so that your objects automatically align themselves based on the size of your container. Check out this credits page example, which is a scrollable container with a bunch of horizontal grid containers.

Not only can I create containers, Godot let's me easily create popup dialog boxes. Notifications boxes that scale based on the text I assign. Sounds simple, but is so stressful to think about if I had to do this myself in Phaser.

I am not going to explain every single tool Godot has that is going to help me out. I just know for a fact that Queen's Brothel will look and feel better if we move to Godot. That's because they have a built in theming system to create your own customized UI elements easily. No more reliance on HTML elements.

If Godot has answers for 99% of my problems with the current game engine, should I re-create Queen's Brothel in Godot? I'd like your honest thoughts because I consider myself to be an adult game developer that does not get stuck in developer hell and I'm not a developer that makes people wait months for updates.

If I were to re-create Queen's Brothel in Godot, I would still be able to provide side quests and artwork updates until I am done. The gameplay updates would be delayed until I am done. If I were to give an ETA for how long it would take me to re-create Queen's Brothel in Godot, I would say a little over 2 months? I'd like to make sure we still pump out side quests so some days I would be going ham on writing side quests, but the rest of my time would be working on the Godot upgrade.

Ah no worries. I think animations are great too, just hard to find porn animators that are available

Have to be honest. I'm not too fussed about the side stories, thier all just still images and that shits just old news and does nothing for me. Animation is the future. And dont worry i understand the reasoning for it, it takes to much time to animate everything. However if you were to plan that for the future then i would double my efforts to support lol. I am not complaining in the slightest about anything, I think this game is hillariously entertaining and has as much support as i can afford unless Brexit completely fucks my job ☺
