THE LONG WALK (RE-UPLOAD) Reaction

I mean, usually I'd agree with you. But this is a bunch of very young men doing an incredibly hard and dangerous thing in a broken country. This isn't the story I'd complain about having a lot of swearing in

why do writers think that adding in 15,000,000 ‘fucks’ makes a good script? i love cussing, but this movie’s script/dialogue was not giving for me. i feel like modern Stephen King films of this nature, always try to emulate the vibes of Stand By Me/Green Mile/Shawshank, but it just feels so contrived and cliche. also the two leads got major praise, but tbh all of the actors were meh to me… EXCEPT for David and Miss Vylette. Judy Greer stole the show and had me choked up. i’m sorry you were going THROUGH it girl 💛 ugh i HATE an obscure ending, another reason why i did NOT like this film.

It's funny how subjective movies are cuz I think this movie is terrible. The cast is over-acting like it's freshman scene study class, they're all speaking in Newsies accents, and the dialogue is atrocious (but that's a writing problem). The premise is The Hunger Games meets They Shoot Horses, Don't They?, both of which are far better movies to watch than this. Lol, but again, it's all just opinion, none of us are right, none of us are wrong.

Judy Greer acting her absolute ASS off. She's incredible

I lowkey avoided watching this movie but I finally built up the courage to watch it with you. Alanda, bless your heart, this movie is a fucking emotional roller coaster.

I just watched this movie on a plane ride home a few days ago… that was a mistake. I cried like 5 times and felt bad for the person sitting next to me lol

Alanda, this film really exposes the Road as a biological filter for adulthood. We see the system systematically murder every version of youth: Curley is the innocent slaughtered for being too young—an animal to slaughter in an "Adult" system. Joe is the integrity that refuses to be isolated; he’d rather die as a human who cares than survive as a machine that ignores. Barkovitch is the performance of toxic "toughness" meant to hide insecurity until the lie literally destroys him. The Major’s son (Stebbins) is a boy performing "strength" through cold analytical detachment, all in a desperate, failed bid for a father’s recognition. The real weight, though, is in the abandonment. These boys are left in a vacuum of guidance by "silent observers" like Garraty’s mother and architects like the Major. In that void, Garraty’s initial "vengeance" is proven to be just an immature emotion that collapses under stress. But McVries represents a much more complex growth. When McVries is slashed, in his past, herefuses to blame anyone but himself, it isn't about "deserving" violence—it's about the cold intelligence of survival. He doesn't justify the Road; he experiences it. His final act of killing the Major isn't a betrayal of his character, but the ultimate evolution of it. He finally understands his own value through the love he found on the Road, and he uses the only language the system taught him to end it. He isn't a "winner"; he's an adult formed in a crucible of trauma.

For a film with such a simple premise. The characters story and the development of said characters were amazing. Each death was so sad especially Ray's death sacrificing himself like that so Pete has a chance to live for Pete then to fulfill Ray's wish... Heartbreaking

The only issues that I actually encountered was that the reaction would freeze for a couple seconds, and then continue on. So I didn't miss anything, fortunately. Honestly, I only watched this movie because of your reaction. Was never on my list, and wasn't all that thrilled with it, either. Dystopian movies have just never been my thing. I saw your reply to another comment that "It" and "Meagan 2.0" are next up. Those I am definitely looking forward to! Your reaction was great, by the way..... the only thing that made this both watchable and enjoyable for me! I love listening to your opinions and perspectives as you're watching a movie.
