One Piece - Halfway Broken 75-76
Added 2025-08-02 01:29:23 +0000 UTCOh, dear sweat glorious pancakes, am I seriously glad you guys and gals chose the option to have the Strawhats watch the events of Marineford. Even just having them view the battle itself, with fewer interjections than I originally intended at that, took nearly 6,000 words! If we'd gone with the other method, just the battle would have chewed through the entire month's 15,000 words.
As is, I stretched the usual size of the 1st of the month update up to over 8,250 words in order to cover Luffy waking up, a little bit of a surprise that's relevant to the image (pure AI generation of my own 'making'), and the viewing of the battle. It doesn't cover the reactions in the aftermath yet, give us a look into the other side's heads, or any of the other bits that now need doing.
This is a rare instance I'm going to specifically state you should probably read the Authors notes for at least chapter Chapter 75 after you read it, as I'm fairly sure many of you will have questions. The most prominent of those will be answered there.
Otherwise, the update is as usual! The new chapters are here in various formats, and the pinned post will get new master files with the whole fic shortly. Though I will likely do the comments first this time. Enjoy the story, folks!

If someone kidnapped someone i considered my son to execute them all for the sake of some cockiness scheme to kill me? Theyre not getting some honorable fight where we debate ethics and morality. Theyre are getting themselves and everyone who followed them put into a deep watery grave.

I was not expecting the battle to end that wY, i thought luffy would have tipped the scales enough for a one sided victory at the loss of maybe a few mook tears…but i guess the marines put their back into it. Even if it cost them way more as an organization then it cost the pirates as a whole.

2025-08-02 23:01:59 +0000 UTC+15 to his stats is a bit boost, yes. He also killed one of the most powerful people in One Piece to get it though :-p. Even if it was mostly luck. The mechs aren't Frankie's work. Their mini versions of Vegaforce-01. Zoro and Kuina would actually be pleased if Mihawk died, so long as it was to Shanks. Remember, Mihawk doesn't have the title fully here, as he and Shanks kept tying (Shanks didn't lose an arm, so they never stopped their duels). Shanks finally beating him would mean that SOMEONE had the title they are after, whereas before they'd have had to beat both of them to get the title. Shiki will be dealt with, but I won't say more on that since anything I could say would be a major spoiler :-p. Ace and Marco will at least hear about why Kizaru vanished, if most likely not about one of the Elder's getting involved.

The Mori Mori no mi is a great addition! Discovery is getting so OP I love it xD Looking forward to what devil fruit you will give Aramaki instead. Or maybe he won’t get one and become a Vice-Admiral instead since Akainu might be able to retain enough strength to stay an admiral (if he isn’t dead) so Fujitora would be enough to fill up the Admiral spots. Those mechs look like Franky might have been forcefully recruited by the marines? Would be an interesting development… Akainu being crippled means that Aokiji is very very likely to be next fleet commander, which is good I think? You never really know what to expect with him so who knows… Definitely better than Akainu though. I hope Mihawk hasn’t died offscreen, would be disappointing for Zoro and Kuina! Whitebeard dying is expected, but will probably be less problematic than in canon for the same reasons your author’s note gave. I hope that Kaido and Big Mom don’t try to eradicate the Whitebeard pirates before they are able to recover some of their strength though. Jozu being alive is great though, and the Whitebeard pirates lost less of their strength than they could have so I don’t think they’ve become an easy target. They’ve definitely lost less compared to the marines. The marines have been SEVERELY weakened! This is great for Alabasta though! Kobra is going to be very relieved :) Shiki is still a big problem though, I hope that Luffy decides to take him on sometime during the timeskip after some time training as some kind of test before the New World. His Float-Float DF would be perfect for Discovery’s last devil fruit slot, and it would be a valuable experience for Luffy’s crew to get stronger (on top of their scheduled training) before they challenge Kaido. Looking forward to the mid-month update! Can’t wait to see Ace and Marco’s reaction when they realise how much Luffy and his crew helped them out. (Unless they don’t find out, but they should at definitely be curious as to what Kizaru was doing so it’s unlikely that it stays a secret, especially since Rayleigh knows.) The whole world’s reaction to these events is going to be so interesting!
