June Story Poll Results
Added 2025-05-26 07:28:37 +0000 UTCFirst, a quick reminder that the Displaced Hero Relationship Poll Results were posted just a bit over a day ago. If you haven't read that update yet, and you're a Displaced Hero reader, I suggest you go give it a look.
With that quick reminder out of the way...whew! This poll was honestly a bit wild! Let's take a quick look at the results!
----------------------
One Piece: Halfway Broken: 148 + 30% Boost = 192.4
Harry Potter: Pandora's Box: 113.5 + 50% Boost = 170.25
A Very Confused Pokemon Adventure: 99
Mass Effect: Eridium Dreams: 9
----------------------
Wow.
That's one heck of a crazy poll, in multiple ways. Pandora's Box got bloody close to another upset of Halfway Broken. If Halfway Broken hadn't had it's own boost for the first time ever, it would have gotten completely bodied by Pandora's Box O.O. Heck, even the pre-boost vote count for Pandora's Box was darn impressive.
Given that Halfway Broken will loose it's boost with a successful win...there's a very good chance Pandora's Box will take a victory next month. Though, since I believe Pokemon Adventure will be getting a boost again, there will be some stiff competition for it from that corner. After all, Pokemon Adventure managed to put up pretty competitive numbers in pure spite of everyone knowing it didn't have a boost going for it.
Then, of course, was poor Eridium Dreams :-(. Seriously, it only picked up 3 voters. Ouch! For a recently updated story that's one hell of a burn! Hopefully, that doesn't mean people hated the update. Most of the commentary and reviews for it have been pretty positive, but that's a heck of a falloff for the previous month's victor...
Regardless! As was, frankly, almost inevitable (seriously, Pandora's Box went down swinging hard) Halfway Broken took the victory. It will be getting the third major update for the month. Though, if I end up having spare time for writing, I might just try to sneak a chapter of Pandora's Box in as an extra, like I did this last month with Halfway Broken. That was a seriously impressive show of support for the fic, after all. Clearly, a lot of you want more of it!
So! Look forward to Halfway Broken this month...and also possibly a poll checking the straight popularity of My Hero Automata versus Halfway Broken. My Hero Automata remains popular on the various places it's posted, but I'm not longer confident it is one of the two most popular fics. Which is was when it originally got locked in as one of the two 'regular' updates. The same is not true for Displaced Hero, which is just flat out the single most commented on story I currently have ongoing. That one, I'm confident is still deserving of it's spot as one of the guaranteed updates every month.
Well, that's the results for now! Keep an eye out for more polls upcoming soon!
Comments
That's...not really an issue for me. I'm actually better at writing original content then I am follow canon rails, which is part of why I veer off of them so completely in most fics. Still, I'm intending to put up a popularity poll between the two stories sometime after the 1st.

2025-05-29 12:09:52 +0000 UTCI think switching Automata and Broken would be a good idea at this point mainly due to Automata having blown through most of the stuff you can pull from canon materials making it slightly more difficult to write in the longer term. Plot snags are easier and less frustrating to work through in my experience if you have a general outline of what happened already and what needs to happen to progress provided in the canon materials.

2025-05-28 13:44:41 +0000 UTCHonestly? It's had the most consistent support, outside Halfway Broken. The other two only tend to get that support when they have boosts. Given Pokemon Adventure will have a boost again in the next poll, I wouldn't be shocked to see it take a victory again.
