My Hero Automata 126-129

Time for another update! Specifically, the rest of this month's My Hero Automata content! A bit over 10,000 words, these chapters hopefully wrap up the bulk of the transition I needed to do in order to shift the focus of the fic from its previous direction to the one you lot voted for. Originally, we'd been headed toward a MHA meets Fairy Tail sort of vibe with the focus intended to be on the Guild. With the voting showing that, unexpectedly, you guys and gals wanted me to pivot and show more of the industrial buildup/advancement/etc., I had to wipe a lot of my previous plans clean and show a transition to a new pace.

I think I've managed to do that in the last couple of updates (including this one). In the future, we'll see more of a MHA meets Battletech and Space Engineers sort of experience, hopefully. That was a pretty drastic pivot, hence needing to use some time skips and buildup to make it happen. But as of this update I think it's on track. Admittedly, I now no longer have the faintest idea where it's going to end. The originally planned-for-ending is no longer remotely viable with the new track. So I'm sort of laying the train track down in front of the locomotive like a cartoon character at the moment ;-). We'll see how that goes...

For this update specifically, we get a peek into how the Guild is operating under Setsuna, as well as a peek into how Heroics has changed from Jirou and Itsuka's perspectives. Combined, of course, with more from Izumi, Momo, and even a short snippet from Melissa, to push that side of things along.

As always, the new chapters are attached here. While you can find the Master Files containing the entire story in the Pinned Post. Enjoy!

Page 2: ...became obvious that the Rift Bubbles were going to need "a way to bolster regular troops..." Edit: ...became obvious that the Rift Bubbles were going to "need them to find a way" to bolster regular troops..." Chapter 129 Page 14-15: "Minster" Edit: "Minister" ...Love it when my edits are short! Good job Novus!

Hmmm. That's fair, I suppose, since you can't have known the long-term end game. I'm not sure how much of it I'll end up repurposing and using, so I can't just outline it :-p. But there WAS a plan in place for how the Guild system was eventually going to become more than just containment. It would have eventually shifted to be the spearpoint of counter invasion as well, with Guilds essentially sending Raid teams into the other worlds to slowly free them from the Empire ah la the sorts of Campaigns you see in MMOs. Something generally similar might still happen, but it won't be the Guilds doing it if it does.

I get that and i agree it'll be a major tactical improvement. The problem is that its a tactical solution to a strategic problem. As the situation exists now youve successfully convinced me that the empire has enough resources to grind down earth no matter what tactical improvements are made. So the guild system feels like it could only buy time and in order to win earth needs more resources than it has. Hence the space program seemed like something that could actually make a difference long term.

Not 'A' guild, the 'First' Guild. The original plan was for them to essentially found the entire Guild system, with the Guild system itself being a huge part of the solution.

To be honest while i would have liked the guild storyline the problem with it is that you made both the empire and the conflict to big. I honestly just cant suspend my disbelief far enough to believe that izumi and momo running a guild would have actually made a difference in the end.
