After the parallel between the King who doesn't even know how to hunt and fight a deer, and Daemon who fought for three years and killed a lot of people on his own, let's go for a parallel between Alicent and Rhaenyra. The first one who is a prisoner of the palace, she's all alone and bored, she's forced to have sex with an old sick guy, when Rhaenyra is going on adventures outside, she's doing what she wants and she has a lot of fun, and she discovers what desire is. The sex scenes were not unnecessary here but they were showing really the difference of a forced one and a passionate one. And also a sweet one. Because yes, between Daemon and Criston, I will choose the one which is not incestuous. Blame me for that.

But at the end, her dad learns the truth and we know at the end he never believed Rhaenyra's version. The one she said to Alicent. Clearly, when the truth is gonna be known by all, Alicent is gonna be the most impacted. Something important for the King during this episode : during episodes he was listening to everyone but at the end he was making decisions ; here, Rhaenyra doesn't want to wed the guy he wants unless he fires his Hand. Power in place changes, little by little.
