Weekly dev log #8, July 31st 2023

Well I feel a bit perkier since last we spoke! I don't think I really realized how mentally exhausted I was after work and just how intense the shift into writing full time was- managing all the different aspects of it wasn't as much of a breeze as I hoped it would be, but one day I swear I will trick my monkey brain to work with me on these matters.

Last week I wrestled with the fact that I struggle to draft 1-2k words a day for Ouro, which I can write without issue, often way more, when it comes to shorter form stories, or erotica, or what have you.
That Ouro itself is harder to write doesn’t surprise me, but the fact that I can’t seem to accept that it is a first draft and I have to just relinquish control from my perfectionism does.
I thought I had it for a while, when I wrote the update before this one, but the slippery feeling of being confident in my writing got away from me, so now I am here again, squinting at the game and questioning everything. If you know of any potion or pill or combination of herbs that will fix this, please send a raven to the third spire of Wryters Bog, I will be languishing on a velvet futon until it finds me, white-knuckling my laptop. Honestly though, I am having fun again; remembering that I don't have to do this, but I get to. It is very hard to remember that sometimes because of the inner critic I have been raised to believe in, but when I do, everything becomes a bit easier. 

Last week did result in progress, too! I wrote 1.8k on Ouro, and about 4k in short stories- there will be some extra stories in the first erotica collection I am working on. Hehe :p

This week I’m not really changing my strategy, I am hoping to finish the conversation with a certain snope in a scene post battle/or the id scene after that, and then I am looking forward to Leith’s Q&A on Friday so gods damned much, they are already buzzing around my head with answers. Thank you so much for all the questions you sent in! :D I am also working on the ebook, poking around in twine, finishing the M/M/M poly short, trying to answer some Q's on tumblr, lot's of tiny things that bring me joy. I am feeling more and more comfortable each week, which is such a good sign and makes me very excited.
