Weekly Dev Log #2, June 19th 2023
Added 2023-06-19 10:41:49 +0000 UTCI hope you've had an amazing weekend! This was the first weekend for me, since starting this project, that I had completely off: not a single thought on writing nor the guilt of not having enough energy to write after a week of work! It felt amazing. I read a whole book from cover to cover, and enjoyed a show called Silo that had me nerding out over worldbuilding. It was raining and gloomy too, so all in all, a pretty perfect weekend!
I did have to force myself to step away from tumblr (I was only going to answer asks on saturdays…) and discord (we have over a 100 members now!) and draw myself kicking and screaming from editing more NSFW stories for publishing. Pfft. Your reactions fueled me, what can I say!
Since last week's launch and demo update, I have been working on small things all over the place, some bugfixes, going over my outline and adding some really interesting scenes further into the story. I am so excited to see what your hunter will sacrifice for someone they love! *evil chuckle*
I also
- Answered heaps of asks and had so much fun talking in the discord
- Edited another nsfw extra story for this week 🫣
- Wrote 1597 words for OUROBOROS (a pittance, but it was expected as I skipped vacation completely in favor of low-pressure work. The importance is maintaining a routine!)
- Reviewed my outline for the 4283973949 time, and every time it makes a bit more sense.
- Worked on two codex entries for Oakwerth and the church of the Ormr. I hate working on codexes, but it will be so nice once I can nail a voice and tone for them.
- Watched so many meme videos for my growing collection💀
- Reviewed a bunch of feedback from the discord(+forum) and took some helpful notes. If you were part of the effort, thank you so much for that invaluable insight to your hunters mind.
And here we are in week 2. It really feels like this story has perked up and is begging to be written, no matter my need for rest! I have been doing some real silly dances with every New Patreon!-email that trickles in, and that happy buzz has kept my writing bouncy and energetic, which is really helpful in such a pivotal chapter. Thank you for that boost.
I am still keeping my wordcount low and pressure free, working more on shuffling the pieces on the intricate playboard that is my plot. More or less, this means writing the chapter beat by beat only, filling in some key dialogue, doing some coding skeletons + fitting in a scene that I have already written (you might have seen it some time ago...). I have found that the more prepared I am before writing a chapter, it comes to me much easier, in really intense writing bursts.
But, rejuvenation and rest is still the name of the game this week, so I am glad if I even get one of those bursts! I will be away Friday as it is Midsummer for us in Sweden, but I will pop in and announce the winner of the Q&A poll before I leave that afternoon, and there is a scheduled post for that evening that should have you clutching at the arm chair again. *snorts* (I promise there will be more non-horny stories too!)
Now I'm off to have a look at what I can do to weasel Idren/Ida's 101 scene back into the demo. I sense some squinting at my outline on the agenda for today.
I hope you have a great week, and I'll see you on Wednesday! :>
