The Fractured Tower- Chapter 66

A party is eventually better than no party. He can guide them to a better build, so what Odric is now is not that much of an issue. They trust him, and know some of his secrets. A new team would have all the drama again, and any of them could be a Hellion and slice his throat when he sleeps. He thinks he can grow together with them into a real climbing party, and the alternative is going solo, which is just boring. Edit: and he just finally got what he wanted, which is for the party to agree to do some fast climbing.

2025-11-23 00:17:29 +0000 UTCI really don't understand Sorin's reasoning here. As he explicitly pointed out earlier, Odric doesn't have the soulprints, skills, or temperament to go far in the tower. Rue might have potential, but is inexperienced and untrustworthy. Given Sorin's capabilities, neither is much of an asset right now. Sorin needs to get stronger fast if he wants to escape the Hellions, and bringing along two liabilities that he has to take care of is just going to slow him down. Plus, there's the anima split. Before Nemari left, he was careful to only take 1/4 of the anima. Now that's probably up to 1/3, but if he goes alone he'll get all of it. Sure, he'll get fewer kills, but since he's so much more effective than his companions he'll still come out way ahead. Is he sticking to his stated plan of finding his old friends (if they exist), or is he creating a new team? If he's going to leave, why is he teaching them and planning on buying them custom gear? Is there something about Rue and Odric that makes them worth the hassle? I just want to know what Sorin's planning, because his current actions and stated goals don't seem to align.

2025-11-22 14:09:42 +0000 UTCThat's a good point, and even if the hellions aren't camping, they could just Walk into the fight with the boss.

2025-11-22 12:26:22 +0000 UTCThere is one huge problem with the plan to stay hidden. Other than the Hellions having sensor stuff and maybe being able to find them easily when they start to come look for them. There are two huge problems with the plan to stay hidden. Can't the hellions just camp near the boss room? They might not have to go to the portal hub if they grind ruins for eq, but they need to climb and Hellions know where the bosses are.
