Listen to the Elegy of Queen Azalea amd Despair!

Traveler! More than a thousand years ago, an elf queen called Azalea lived deep in the woods. The elvish community had always known her for her deep love for the forest and everything that lived there. Some say she found a way to commune with plants and animals that not even druids could understand. With time, her passion and love grew so much that she asked her peers and friends of nature to perform a ritual to make her soul and body join the forest forever as one.

Her family and friends showed some resistance and tried to persuade her from this. But her mind was set. They successfully performed the ancient ritual. Azalea's soul fused with the forest. Many centuries have passed but the forest and the elvish woman's soul remain. She has become a powerful fae spirit, capable of healing magic. The ancient tale has it that the spirit of the forest puts to the test the body and mind of all those who seek her wisdom and her blessing. 

This is a level 3 delve adventure about seeking the favor of a fae spirit, exploring the ancient rainforest, and includes an opportunity to heal a party member from any poison or ailment. Here's a low-def preview of this illustration:

Here's a close-up of Queen Azalea's shrine in the rainforest's heart. The glowing pond by the great oak's roots is magical. Drinking from it causes a vivid dream that gives creatures a sample of what Queen azalea has endured through the ages.

Not every supplicant earns the queen's favor. The surrounding forest area is the grave of many who did not endure the queen's tests. Some died of physical wounds, other perished from the mental ordeal of the second test.
