330 The Kuo-Toa Idol

This is an underground cavern complex near a natural spring in the mountain range. Some of the tunnels are submerged but they also connect some of the surface areas. This location is the perfect hideout for a pack of kuo-toa cultists who recently moved to the area. The kuo-toa are innately insane. They follow obscure motivations that are incomprehensible to other species. Their strange devices brought them to this underground complex. Here, they used clay, rocks, and bones to build a repugnant idol of their arcane god. The idol appears to be a mixture of a squid or an octopus with 5 long tentacles. The kuo-toa make sacrifices of fish, captured humanoids, and even themselves to the idol and then spill the blood in the crystal clear water.
After a few weeks of doing so, the growing disappearances of travelers and the strange taste in the town's water supply caused the local government to raise an alarm and look for sellswords to hire. They need this problem solved as soon as possible or the water supply will be too tainted to drink from.
