Soulslike fatigue for me is “remember other types of action games?”. I don’t like the genre and I’m tired of being patronised and told “just stick with it because once you understand what it’s trying to do and you shift into gear, it’s the best thing ever but you just haven’t put enough into it yet” because I’m tired of it not respecting my time. I finished DMC V in a weekend and it was everything I could’ve wanted. In that same amount of time (a good 20 hours) I grew so bored of Bloodborne I put it down and never looked back. You can get just as much excitement and satisfaction from killing a hard boss on your first or fifth go as you do on your fiftieth.
That’s my quarterly soulslike moan out of my system.

Soulslike’s have always been the least interesting genre of games. I love a good story and lots of lore, but the payoff after dying again and again has never been worth the trouble. I tried lots of them and I just can’t bring myself to care about “getting gud”, especially when it’s costing me $60-$70. I have enough to do in everyday life.
