I think it's an interesting point that the reactions of the characters really make Jurassic Park. The sequels all have clever ways to trap, tame, or defeat dinosaurs. The protagonists all feel like action heroes taking them on in some way. In the original, it doesn't feel like we are watching an action film in that way, and the dinosaurs feel like a force that cannot be stopped. Maybe this is why we aren't in awe and marvel at the dinosaurs in the sequels in the same way? If humans can genuinely hope to take them on, then they feel more on our scale? Idk. It's a really interesting video though!

I remember a Cracked article (god I’m so old) on Jurassic World that pointed to the reaction of the kids as illustrating the problem. The kids in World aren’t scared, they aren’t impressed, they just go through it like it’s another family day trip, and that’s all the movie was in comparison to the original. I never would have linked it to the Twilight Zone movie though, love your perspectives!
