Really nice to see a European movie for a change – yet obviously successful and popular, in its own way. Watching the second half of the film take a much darker turn, after its apparently “romantic” first half, and particularly the plot twists of the final twenty minutes, was cinematically well done. Ellie’s final personal reflection and rage at the wider tragedy of the Holocaust, given her appreciation of the circumstances under which World War II was fought, was only to be expected! If her remarks are cut from the final YouTube video, then at least “What happens on Patreon, stays on Patreon”.
