This film was a wonderful look at how big families deal with legacy and death on a more personal level, while The Book of Life was a bit more general and supernatural, but just as fun. You really can't go wrong with a Dia de Los Muertos aesthetic in either film, as well as Michael Giacchino doing a fantastic job at encompassing the audience in the Latin American musical sound. #disney #pixar

2024-07-26 06:20:13 +0000 UTCSPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T SEEN THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!! This movie has one of the best twist villains I've ever seen! It's because you are led to believe that Miguel is related to De La Cruz. You find out he's the villain. Then, they twist it further by ripping the rug out from under you. Miguel is not the great great grandson of De La Cruz, He's the great great grandson of Hector. All of this is done so well. When I rewatch it, I look at De La Cruz' behavior, and see that he is always trying to make every situation look good. De La Cruz probably never had children. How could he have had a great great grandson. He wouldn't, and he knows it. You can tell by his expression as Miguel is explaining everything. I love this movie. I'm visiting my family in Indiana for Father's day. None of them have seen this. I'm gonna show it to my parents first. Then, hopefully, my parents will let my siblings watch it. I can't wait.
