Chapter 4 - 21

Man, there's so much I have to say about this update.... First of all, it was exhausting. The backgrounds absolutely killed me lol. But I'm really, really happy with how they turned out. I feel like I pushed myself in ways I haven't in a while, and adding that on top of just being busy as hell this week, it was like... running a small marathon and now I've finally crossed the finish line.

This update was also strangely emotional for me, because the VERY FIRST TLLT illustrations (I hadn't even completely settled on character designs/personalities yet!) were of Fletch and Judas on Route 66. And Route 66 in general was a big inspiration for this comic. I guess it sort of snuck up on me how fast we'd gotten to this point??? (I included those first two illustrations so you guys can see just how far the art has come since then, and how Fletch and Judas' design's have changed over time!). Anyway, crazy to think we're now past the half-way point of this story. <3 Ugh.

As for the content of this episode itself... we get our montage of Route 66 and Albuquerque, NM together in one. Idk if any of you guys have been to Albuquerque, but "Poco a Poco" is in Old Town there, (a real place!). I loved the symbolism of it because "Poco a Poco" means "Little by little" and that's exactly how these five odd friends are getting on. Especially Judas and Kinley... little by little. Slowly but surely...

Speaking of Kinley, don't ask me what he said to Judas to get bodied into a fountain-- just know that it was totally warranted lol. Of course... Judas didn't mean to hurt Kinley. I'm sure the bloody nose was an accident. Like... Kinley was trying to scramble away and slipped and banged his face on the side, then socked Judas in the nose out of anger. xD Or maybe they both slipped! Idk! I do know that in a weird way, this rough-housing is something Judas would actually miss with his siblings. And in an even weirder way, Kinley's never had someone to roughhouse with (in a non-sexual way LOL) so, I think he'd subconsciously feel the... affection? Love/Hate? Bittersweetness? about it. And... maybe it's easier to fight with Judas like this than to admit he's starting to grow on him after all ;)

Oh btw-- Let me know if you ever find another comic where characters are kissing in a pepper patch, because I will PERSONALLY find the artist and push THEM in a fountain, okay? I don't draw 500+ fuckin peppers to NOT be the one and only >:(

.... Anyway. There's so many little things in this update I love. Smh. Judas finding a tacky Elvis jacket in a gift shop. Dick being chased by tumbleweeds... Signs and Sights and Neon. <3 Please let me know how this one makes you feel. Because I feel TOO MUCH with it lol. It's not fair.
