MoolahMilk Mondays Episode 7

Hello all! As you guys know, I'm working fulltime now. Which means I spend most of my time at home in front of the computer. I've been following the news around the world everyday and I've watched some really scary videos leaked online which I regret. War is a crazy thing. I cannot imagine experiencing those stuffs. People can be really evil. Well, it helps me realize that my life is really amazing and being depressed about small insignificant things really isn't worth it at all because it could always be worse. Much worse.

So for this week, I'm wishing everyone here to be grateful and love your life and the people around you. Nothing is more important than peace and health! If we can get by, it is all okay. The blessing to be able to do simple things like play games and watch movies and make something creative on my own like DA is something I'm grateful for.

Now it's time for DA news!

Voicing the game is something I always dreamed of doing. But it is very challenging. As we grow more and more I am definitely looking to hire voice actors/actresses to read the lines. But it's definitely something to be careful with as it could break the game. I'm not seeing much success from other games out there. There's so many things to consider. I will definitely look into it more once we get everything sorted out.

For the moment, I've been experimenting with just adding lewd sounds for some of the scenes. It's taking me some time, but I'm kinda pleased with the results so far. I'm getting better at using audio software and blending the sounds together. I've uploaded a sample so that you guys can have a look and give some feedback. The softer parts are fine but the difficult once are intense scenes. It's also hard to find the same voices for each character and I'm not sure how much I can get away with using different voices without it being too noticeable.

We'll see the response after the next release and see if it's worth it to go through all the videos and make sounds for them as well. Or perhaps I can try hiring someone who is really good at making such audios to do it with some extra budgets. It would save me time and it could be worth it if the results are great.

I will release a table of contents you guys can expect to see and release it for testing soon. We're targeting a release date sometime next month. I'll be looking to plan releases in a more coherent way moving forward and also organize it better with the cross promos we're doing.

We're really lagging behind in terms of marketing the game but I think it's not necessarily a bad thing. I think once the base of the game is fully polished, marketing can take off! As I've mentioned, I'm starting to organize such things more now, timing the cross promos along with release dates that many other games are doing. So expect to see some nice recommendations on here to support other good devs! I will try to limit the number of promotions and handpick good ones so it's always worth having a look.

At the moment, we are purely sustained by the few websites we are ranking on such as itch.

We will start looking at other avenues to promote the game and I'm really excited for the future. It will be great.

No worries! As I said, your greatest strengths are your writing and art design so know that even without corruption or any of the other planned tags, this game is still better than 75% of games in the industry and I will remain pledged because of this for as long as I can afford. I guess my biggest point was that all of these awesome things you are looking forward to are so much more meaningful than sound effects or voice work. Also don't feel like you have to rush, I'm sure many in the community share the feeling that quality is better than quantity. I just wish it were easier to tell at a glance what is or isn't currently in the game to avoid frustration. Thanks for responding and know that your game is already fantastic!!

No worries bigEZH! I understand what you mean. We're almost there. Just need to sort out all the kinks and you will start to see all the things take place. I need to complete the base of the game first. Soon, you will see why. I'm starting to rush many aspects of the game and it's just not good. It will turn out to be a disappointment if I continue cutting corners. Let me develop the game and be patient! The corruption will come. You guys know what's coming and it will be good. If you already like what you seen so far then I'm very sure what's coming in future will blow ur mind! We haven't even scratched the surface yet!

hey so im a brand new patron and im really enjoying the game so far! i do have to agree with the others though.... getting voice acting doesnt seem worth the effort at this stage when there are aspects of the game such as the corruption slider that are so far unused. if im being honest, the idea of the corruption content is a large part of why i decided to lend my support to the game and it really seems like it doesnt play a role at all having gotten through most of the content so far. Like, this level of writing would make this easily the BEST written corruption game in the adult gaming space if it were actually implemented. even just being able to go up one level of the slider at this point in the story/development would help the game far more than some well done moans and voice lines. I dont want this to seem like harsh criticism because i truly enjoy the game a lot so far but it isnt what i wanted out of the game at this point. Best of luck!

Hmm that's very true. It's a good point. It's a bit like how dubbed anime almost always sounds bad. And if their voice don't match how the player imagined it, it could be disappointing as well. Definitely VA in terms of the lines is a tall task. Well, I'll worry about that later down the road if we ever do it. Mmm. Now I'm wondering about the lewd noises and moans. At the moment I'm trying to limit to very minor grunts and moans with sloshing or slapping sounds. Let's see if it works out for the few scenes I've included them.

I have to agree with the others, there isn't a single game on Patreon that pulled off voice acting well. Usually when there's VA, I don't like it, because the women have a thick American accent which I find unattractive. I'll turn it off anyway. Most critically, the porn aspect. They have to put a "confident/seductive" (for the MILF characters) or "soft" (for the young girl characters) vibe into the voices, which is something these voice actresses are not trained for. Simply put, the market for porn VAs doesn't exist (outside of Japan), so you can only find "regular" (non-porn) VAs and have to hope they learn quickly. It's completely different in Japan where a whole industry of femals VAs exists that are used to speaking in attractive and cute voices. And attempts by the Western market to imitate that have failed so far IMO.

Thanks for the update moolah. I think the voice acting thing would be a huge endeavour and my sense is that this effort would be better spent getting the core building blocks and act 1 done faster. I, for one, don’t typically have sound on when playing lewd games. So I personally would prefer to see visual enhancements (like internal view overlays cream pies) and the ability to start knocking anomalies up. Having said that, the little tech demo for sound does work pretty well. So good work!

RE: Audio, voiced lines vs simple sound effects. Sound effects from various sources shouldn't cause any major issues because grunts, groans and moans can vary even coming from the same individual. Spoken lines however would be very problematic coming from various sources for the same character. The VO for a specific character would need to be specific for that character throughout the game. Like film, (my background) keeping a character's identity consistent is necessary to maintaining the reality that we have created for the viewer to experience. Changing up the sound of a voice endangers the suspension of RL we have created for the enjoyment of the viewer, thus destroying the magic of the moment for them.

I am often guilty of that as well. We all need to do what we can to try to live some life away from the keyboard. It will help give us perspective, allowing us to be better storytellers and appreciate the stories we take part in more...plus a bit of rest and relaxation from time to time can be a good thing. Working and making progress can be good but we should not forget to spend time with our friends, families, and exploring our communities either.
