Secret Diary #17

The Comiket event has been decided.

I've been confirmed as a winner!

I'm currently working on my doujinshi.

I'll talk more about Comiket later, so please look forward to it.

One of the things that annoys me when I'm working on a Comiket manuscript is the problem of revisions.

This is what is called "applying seaweed.

In my normal work, the publisher takes care of the revisions on their own.

But that's not the case with doujinshi.

You have to do everything yourself.

In addition, books to be distributed at Comiket will be checked at the event.

This is a form of censorship.

This is quite strict.

Books with weak corrections will be banned from distribution.

Let's leave aside for the moment the issues of whether or not deformed two-dimensional characters should be corrected, or whether or not corrections are being forced by group pressure even though they are self-imposed.

Anyway, erotic books that are distributed at trade fairs tend to be heavily modified.

On the other hand, the illustrations I've uploaded to Fanbox are literally just erased voluntarily by me, so the erasures are lighter than those in regular doujinshi.

I use the same erasing technique I use when I post illustrations on Pixiv.

For example, from the manuscript I'm currently working on...

In the case of the FANBOX illustration, the correction is as follows

(Illustration 1)

It's quite aggressive.

It may be a little too thin, but I think it's okay.

(Illustration 2)

This is the general idea of the book to be distributed at Comiket.

I may have to revise it more.

What do you think? It's totally different, isn't it?

All manga artists don't want to do any revisions.

Do I really want to show my genitals that much?

No, it's not. It's not that simple.

Manga uses only a few lines to express the shape of an object, so if you hide part of the lines, it's a problem.

I don't want the nuance of the drawing to be significantly different.

In that sense, I have always thought that the greatest privilege of being a FANBOX supporter is to be able to see a manuscript that has been thinly revised.

In fact, it's invaluable.

However, in order to make a doujinshi for Comiket, I will have to think a little about how to handle the differences in revisions between the FANBOX and the doujinshi.

I may need to reconcile the two.

The illustrations in the FANBOX are a once in a lifetime experience.

Oh yeah, and supporters, please do not reprint any of the illustrations on FANBOX.

That's not to say it's not just a matter of "don't reprint the content for paid supporters without permission", but also because, as I said this time, the basis for the correction is different, and if something goes wrong, I may have to delete everything.

I hope you can keep your promise to me.

Comments

Yes, it is. What bothers me is that the management decides whether to distribute or not, but does not reveal the criteria. As a result, authors have to make excessive revisions. In fact, there are several circles that are banned from selling by the management every year. However, since being banned is proof that the contents are extreme, such books are sometimes popular in bookstores. This is because books can be sold in bookstores even if they are banned in Comiket. Of course, such cases are rare.

I didn't know they were that strict on the revisions for the doujinshi sold at the event. So if an artist isn't careful enough with his own revisions, he'll basically lose the rights to sell anything the day of the event? Sounds like a big risk for the artist (financially) if the comiket staff doesn't allow the doujinshi at the last check.
