For the past few years I've been making some Christmas greeting cards for family and friends. Each year is a different design, with Fergus being this year's winning design.
Fergus wasn't my first choice though. I always end up with a few different design ideas each year. Whether I use those designs depends on a lot of things, like how the composition looks or how it looks printed out (which is a big issue, getting the colors to match isn't easy).
For 2022's card, my original idea that I really wanted to do was a Mid Century Modern themed card. I really liked this idea, and I really wanted it to work but it just wasn't coming out how I envisioned it. Mostly I felt like that no one would get all the references in it. I still like it, and I may try and use it again next year.
Another idea that tried again this year was a Bezon themed card. This idea is originally from 2020, but for the same reason as my MCM card idea, I just couldn't make it work, or I couldn't come up with a layout that I liked. It's another that I may revisit in the future.
Along with my Fergus card, I made a back-up card design too, featuring two fuzzy friends, a reindeer and a highland bull. I made this card design because I wasn't sure if my grandparents would understand who or what a Krampus is. So I made it just to be on the safe side.
Even though Fergus wasn't my first idea, everyone still loved him, so all in all I think this year's card was a success. πππ
Curious to see what next year's card brings...
