Sketchbook - (Cannen) Jockstrap Academy
Added 2019-03-14 12:00:00 +0000 UTCI've also been tweaking old designs for "Jockstrap Academy" - this really is something that should be done after the storyboard process, because if you don't have a story, what's the point? However, I like a good sit-down-and-procrastinate while-nitpicking-over-a-character design sesh.
Cannen is based on the character of the same name in an 80's b-movie called "Wimps". In the movie, he's the token black character - as 80's movies were wont to do - and I'll admit, that's where he started in this concept as well. He's part of my gang-of-three all-purpose supporting jock characters, Cannen, Trigger and Gunnar. All firearm names, all disparate personalities, all have specific body types and have distinctive regional accents - yet they are all interchangeable.
I envision Cannen with 1) a Cockney accent - I really enjoy the British accent that turns "THs" into "Fs" 2) a really distinctive Apollo's belt and 3) a compact torso where his pecs and six pack press against each other, creating tension.
