Update on Sales Tax/GST/VAT - Changes Coming to Some Areas, Please Read for Details
Added 2021-07-09 03:21:17 +0000 UTCHey everyone, I just wanted to give you all a heads up about a small change to required tax on pledges. Patreon already adds sales tax/VAT/GST to pledges from patrons in most US states and several other countries—anywhere that’s required by law. They’re now required to start adding tax in a few new places: Canada (other than Quebec where Patreon already charges QST), Thailand, Florida, and Kansas.
If you live in one of those places, you should see a small amount of tax added to your pledge starting August 1st.
If you have questions, you should be able to find answers here. If you still have questions, the best place to get an answer is from Patreon’s customer support team, here.
This isn't a decision I had anything to do with, and the additional charge isn't coming from me, but I wanted anyone that could be affected to know, because no one likes extra costs they weren't expecting. Anyone who is affected will be receiving emails from Patreon with more info, starting July 12th.
