In Modern Jet Fighters, modern combat isn’t only about reflexes — it’s also about how smart your systems are. That’s why we’ve implemented a flexible Autopilot system, originally developed for AI-controlled wingmen and offline enemies — now also optionally available for players who want a simplified, low-pressure experience.
This is not about giving up control. It’s about making air combat more accessible and comfortable, especially in routine situations.
The Autopilot system powers all AI aircraft in the game — from your squadmates to PvE opponents. It handles:
Navigation
Following predefined flight routes
Autonomous target scanning
Terrain avoidance (including complex surfaces like cliffs, canyons, and hills)
Attack Execution
Identifying and engaging air/ground targets
Smart use of cannons, missiles, and tactical tools (afterburner, flares, chaff)
Squad Integration
Maintaining tight formations
Attacking leader-designated enemies
Defending the squad or reacting to threats independently
Although developed for AI behavior, Autopilot can be enabled by the player as a support tool for easier control during routine gameplay.
When activated, Autopilot can:
Fly the aircraft along a pre-set path or patrol pattern
Automatically manage throttle and speed
Engage enemies using built-in fire logic
Deploy flares or countermeasures without manual input
This is not designed as a high-skill tool — it’s a way to enjoy combat more casually or comfortably, letting the system handle the basics while you enjoy the visuals, flow, or learning curve.
Each aspect of Autopilot (throttle, weapons, flares, targeting) is modular and adjustable. Internally, AI uses tunable reaction delay parameters to make its behavior more human-like:
Missile launch: 2–5 sec
Flare reaction: 1.5–4 sec
Target switching: 1–3 sec
Afterburner use based on distance and threat
Autopilot is always active for disconnected players — your aircraft keeps fighting so the team isn’t penalized.
But for players who want a relaxed experience, or who prefer less manual multitasking, enabling Autopilot brings:
Lower execution pressure
A smoother entry point for beginners
A casual flight experience with tactical visuals and sound
Autopilot is still in experimental testing. We’ll be gathering player data and feedback on:
When and why players activate it
Whether it helps with onboarding and retention
How it impacts fairness in multiplayer
Our goal is to make it a useful optional feature, never a requirement — and certainly never a competitive shortcut.
In Modern Jet Fighters, Autopilot is your co-pilot — an optional assistant for flying easier, not smarter. Let the AI do the basics while you enjoy the ride.
