Welcome back to Crabwell all! In Crabwell 02 - The Scriveners, we explore how Entac's decrees became actual laws. The Scriveners are a unique order of scholars / lawyers / judges / philosophers / executioners that clarify how Crabwell residents are to live their lives. Explore more of this walled city, and try to avoid accidentally getting arrested!

Borough Guide

The sole focus of this document is the Scriveners and their various projects. Learn about the philosophies of the scholars in their tower, the duplicitous leader of the organization, and the order's strange responsibilities. Your party is almost certain to run afoul of the law at some point, so it's crucial to know exactly what sorts of fates they'll confront: a petty fine? a stint in the Hedral Prison? a public hanging??? 

Maps

The northeastern portion of Crabwell encompasses more of the central square, complete with the labyrinthine Sciveners' Tower. Further to the northeast, you'll find the Hedral Prison, a strange construction project designed with meticulous instruction by Entac. When all goes to hell, you better bet that the protesters / sieging armies lay waste to these two symbols of oppression first.

Patrons at the Chief Courtier tier or higher also get access to interior maps of the prison and 6 floors of the Scriveners' Tower. You can (and should!) run entire sessions just in these two locations.

Music

In keeping with our renaissance theme, we've got a solo lute piece for you today! "Mead, Meat, and Millet" is a emotional impromptu, evoking all of those bittersweet moods of slowly modernizing late-Medieval streets. As your players explore the Scriveners' Tower, wander the parapets at night, or chat up strangers before the execution, this track will set that melancholy tone. For a slightly livelier rendition, the "(Tavern)" variant changes the key, the tempo, and adds some subdued hand drums.
