I need to dance to more live music.

Photo by Hershel Self from Poppy Pie's Burlesque Roulette last summer.

There were two shows in Los Angeles that had live music. Both of them had a regular cast, which meant no opportunity for this little stripper to enjoy the live band.

Since I moved to Dallas, I've danced with two live bands. (One of them was in Oklahoma.) Live music presents interactive opportunities that just aren't there with pre-recorded, "canned" music.

There's also plenty of room for things to go awry. I'm open to that. It's part of live performance. I've lost my fair share of pasties, and I'm sure I'll lose more.

Of course, I also find myself missing the freedom and exploration of pole dancing class. Not sure if I can physically handle inversions these days, but I like the improvisational aspect.

I think there should be more improv strip shows.

Which do you prefer? Stripping to live music or to pre-recorded tracks-- as an audience member?

I need to dance to more live music.
