Cheruba and Spuria (New Series/Storyline)
Added 2019-03-19 23:02:52 +0000 UTCI've been working on a a new series and set of images. Several are still in progress as I develop the characters and make changes to them. But I wanted to introduce the two main characters as well as the backstory.
Cheruba and Spuria Backstory -
The realms of Good and Evil, or as they're known on Earth, Heaven and Hell, are not really
the places of eternal Reward and Punishment that humans think they are. Both realms are in fact, peopled with guardians of the Worldly Realm, of which Earth is a part.
Good and Evil, for the most part are the same type of people. Both good and bad exist in both realms. Some unfortunate runins a few millenia ago cemented the terms Good and Evil into Earth's vernacular. One such being was a fellow from Evil named Lucifer, who was quite simply, an asshole. The rest, as they say, is history.
Here's the real story about Good and Evil. For millenia, Good and Evil have been sending guardians to Earth, and other places in the Worldly Realm to keep watch over, and protect the mortals there. Yes, that is where the term guardian angel comes from. The inhabitants of Good appear to be what humans know as Angels, while the denizens of Evil appear to be Demons.
In order to prevent, or at least keep rivalries to a minimum between the two realms, it was decided that each person who was selected to have a Guardian, would in fact, get two. One from each realm. This is the origin of the old stories of someone with an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other. Of course, this legend, while containing a nugget of truth, completely had the context wrong.
Among other things, the Guardian training program involves sending the trainees to live for a while in the mortal realm where they would be assigned so they could become acclimated and familiar with their assigned world. The trainees would be placed with their eventual partner from the other realm and they would be "raised" together. They would be placed with an experienced, retired Guardian who would serve to train and teach them about their future position. To the trainees they would be known as their Caretaker. To the mortals they would appear to be two adolescents who had come to live with an aunt, uncle, grandparent or some other caretaker. Sometimes they took on the role of an adoptive parent. The specifics would be decided by the Caretaker, and upon their arrival they would be instructed on how to address them when mortals were around and the rules they must follow.
While there are exceptions, most of the trainees are enrolled in a mortal educational environment so that their indoctrination will include an intimate understanding of what mortals go through on a daily basis, while still maintaining a ordered and disciplined environment. While in actuality, they are much older than their human disguises appear, and they are technically adults in their own realms, the dimensional transition between realms does cause some regression in their physical maturity. Most arrive appearing to be older teenagers. This has the effect of greatly reducing the potency of their powers, which can only be restored naturally over time as they "grow up" again. Fortunately, the age regression only occurs once, the first time a denizen of Good and/or Evil makes the dimensional transition.
The level of loss of a trainees powers (e.g. magic) varies from individual to individual however, all retain the ability to use their wings, as well as magically hide them, and in the case of those from Evil, the ability to diguise themselves as a mortal. On Earth, at least, those from Good are generally able to pass for human simply by magically hiding their wings.
While the beings of the <insert term> Realms are referred to as mortals, this by no means implies that the denizens of Good and Evil are immortal. When they are in human form, they are, for the most part, as vulnerable as humans. That includes their bottoms when they misbehave.
