Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll is a prequel movie to the main plot of the IP as a whole. There are a number of time skips, but rest assured most of that time is spent traveling from plot point to plot point--as Violet noted herself in this episode.

At the start of most episodes so far we get a little feedback from each person who deals with Violet for that episode. It's very slight but it seems to stand out to them about her. I'm anxious to find out in the next episode if I'm on the right track.
