As a woman, I care too. But not depicting the sad truth in the media, means burying the problem under the sand. I would agree with you if Absalom and his behaviour was brushed off lightly and tolerated by other characters, but even his own army despises him for that, so I don't see any kind of glorification or even acceptance of SA behaviours. We can all agree it's hard to watch, but it's how you get people to talk about the issue instead of pretending it doesn't exist. Plus, we should be even more upset with Lola as she is also forcefully harassing Absalom. But we are not, because he deserves to get a taste of his own medicine. So I think Oda covered all bases on the subject in this arc and made it pretty clear that he doesn't condone that type of thing.

Just a funny fact, when Nami pretended to be a guy she Said the Same thing Mr 2 (Bonclay) is always saying which is "Joodan ja nai wa yo" I think its means smth Like "its not funny" or "thats no joke". Anyway I Just thought thats a funny Detail since bon Clay is trans and Nami was pretending to be a guy

The writer managed to create a vile disgusting character, the same way perversion is getting under your skin other's stomachs turn to just seeing Brook's skeleton. Because of that both topics deal with censorship around the world. I hate Absolam, but what's the difference between complaining about the gags around Enel killing people or Spandam's villainous existence? You're more use to murder in fiction? It's a very unmature take your going after the subject with, and the main gag coming is the stupidity of it all, not respect for it. I seriously don't understand what you're standing up for, and neither does Oda because there's more Lame-O's to come who go asking for an ass kicking the same way Absolam is. I bet you never even put it together that Lola's existence is due to Perona having troubles with Absolam.

I agree, I hate it but then again, this show covers a lot of crimes/heinous things and Oda doesn't write them in to just be a gag or mitigate them in any way. For me it just is a sad reality that this kinda stuff also happens in real life but I don't think that is a reason not to show them. Absalom is a bad guy so I don't expect anything else from him, the only gripe I have with One Piece (and I am a OP stan since 2000) is Sanji. I'm not going to say any more about that but iykyk

Absalom and his constant SA attempts are THE primary reason this arc gets dropped down significantly for me. Part of it was the era - IIRC Thriller Bark was being published live in like 2007, but Oda is normally so thoughtful and nuanced when it comes to sensitive topics and this one is just not a funny gag at all. One that ages more poorly as the years go on :/
