Something that really distinguishes Luffy from other Main Characters is that he never actually forces his will on you. When Robin said she wanted to die, most main characters would have started a lovely speech about how wanting to die is wrong, you have friends, blah blah… not Luffy. He doesn’t deny what you are saying/feeling. He lets you know he understands you, and only asks you to feel that way by his side. Robin can die if that’s what she wants, but Luffy won’t allow her to die by enemies’ hands. If she really wants to die, she can do it surrounded by the friends who love her. Keep the tissues box close by, girls!

I thought the walk to Arlong Park couldn’t be topped, but this moment beats it because of the stakes involved and who the enemy is. Even the music is more solemn. Watching you girls enjoy this is like watching it again for the first time.

Not only is he a battle genius, but he also has incredible emotional intelligence. He intuitively understands the deepest, darkest desires and struggles within others' hearts, and responds accordingly. What's beautiful is that he doesn't consciously know this; it’s as if he instinctively understands. His purity shines through in the world of One Piece. 3. Another standout quality of One Piece is its portrayal of friendship. While the theme is central, it never feels forced or cringeworthy, unlike other shonen where the "power of friendship" often falls flat. 4. Kid Robin is absolutely adorable. Her voice as a child is so endearing. 5. Robin's desire to die makes sense given her tragic past. Since she was eight, people have told her that her life was worthless, that she was a devil, and that she didn't deserve to live. No matter how positive someone is, continuous brainwashing like that will eventually break them down.
