I've never found an anime character who I felt was really similar to me until Frieren, so she has a special place in my heart. Also, the voice actor for Himmel, Okamoto Nobuhiko, also did the voice of Genya in Demon Slayer. He's one of my favorite voice actors and I was shocked when I found out he was Himmel's VA because the voice he does for Himmel is so different from the roles he's most famous for.

Watched HxH 15x (thru reactions), same with JJK, now on my 20th or so watch with you guys and couldn't be more excited. You just went from heavy with JJK to a different kind of heavy with Frieren. The subtle masterclass storytelling, score, art, themes will overwhelm you guys in the best way. You guys catch everything and I'm sure you'll appreciate this show to the fullest. Hope you can do it at least twice (or thrice) a week for us, you won't regret it!

Sadness wells up inside me when Frieren cries over not getting to know Himmel, but no tears for whatever reason. Anyways, I'm glad y'all are enjoying the show so much already πππ

This feeling of growing older and the importance that it has, and the nostalgia that comes with the years.. This episode embodies that so well that it is almost impossible not to feel this deep emotion that brings up the tears

2024-11-19 14:41:11 +0000 UTCThe score is composed by Evan Call! One of my favorite anime OSTs in recent years. It really elevates the work by serving each moment well. So much of the show is filled with quiet moments and Evan really understood the assignment by paring down on the arrangement when it was needed, so that character non-verbals stood out more. And of course during brilliant climactic moments like the Era Meteor Shower, it becomes sweeping and epic and we even get the tin flute involved for those high end call-and-responses to the string orchestra. It's filled with cozy, cute, funny, nostalgic, poignant moments of a long life, and the score communicates this, while also embracing the fantasy theme. Looking forward to seeing you experience it! I've probably rewatched this show at least five times all told, and each time I pick up on new little nuances and character details.
