164 was SUCH a good episode! The writing is unreal... even if we're able to pick up some clues and follow breadcrumbs there is ALWAYS something unexpected involved. We love it so much! Huge thank you to all of you for keeping us spoiler free 💖. Can't wait for more Skypiea! Until the next one!

Every single thing is connected to something. The story with Cricket the old man? Yes, One Piece is a long series, but the build up, Oda patient for his story, is just too marvelous.

2024-08-10 16:26:00 +0000 UTCI always thought the trees growing so much was a nod to the lack of gravity in the sky islands. When astronauts go to the space station, they grow taller because they don't have gravity pulling them down and the spine starts to decompress.. It's only a few inches taller but they are only up there for a few months. I figured that because upper yard got pulled up into the sky, it would grow taller & quicker because of the reduced gravity. It's a bit exaggerated but we are talking about pirates hunting for cities of gold in the sky so.... :-) - And we know how much Usopp loves the Merry but he was just happy Chopper was ok. He is all of us!

2024-08-10 05:17:06 +0000 UTCActually, cold deep sea has higher concentration of oxygen (or at least higher potential but less than maximum), and so the theory on the cause of gigantism includes higher oxygen, lower temps, and/or food scarcity with no way to tell. In fact, putting insects in tanks with higher air pressure and more oxygen has been tested to make their offspring bigger over time. My theory on Oda's intent is that the water up there has a lot of sea stone providing minerals.

You get small elements episode by episode and this gives you the time to create your own theory or your own version of the story. It’s as if you were living the adventure with the straw hats. And then you find out whether you were right. People that just want to rush the anime to ‘catch up’ as fast as possible, or that only focus on the fighting scenes are missing out on the real fun big time.

2024-08-09 17:42:44 +0000 UTCi think the reason why everything is bigger up there is sorta like the phenomena of deep sea gigantism. in the deep deep sea where oxygen levels are much lower animals tend to get bigger like the colossal squid and what not. i think Oda used that as inspiration and thats why he made the birds evolve to be bigger

I also love the scene where Nami is shouting for Chopper, but he only comes out when he hears Zoro's voice. Shows how much he trusts Zoro, and looks up to him. Everyone gets some great moments in this arc, but Chopper's are frigging adorable. I also loved watching you guys piece together the Jaya connection, and your faces when it hit was priceless!
