Like the movie "Ring"/"The Grudge" or "Spirited Away" (people disappeared out of thin air) . Some hotel rooms or apartments have talismans if something happened in that rooms. So for Japanese people this anime's theme is very familiar to us.

There are subtle changes to the images almost every episode and it’s actually a part of the storytelling for the first half of season one. It really adds to the experience, though you won’t understand why until basically the last episode they use this first opening theme. Just trust me, it’s worth it. 2) Sensei means teacher, while senpai means upperclassman (more or less). So if you hear a character refer to someone as their senpai, they’re referring to someone who is either older or more experienced. Like the students in the grades above you would be your senpai. Basically it’s someone who has seniority over you. You most commonly hear it used in school settings.
