This is a callback to his brother Zeke always doing the same gesture, even in Beast form. Now I want to go back to see if Grisha had the same possible genetic qwirk.

As for the meaning of the close up of Eren's eye well that's one way to look at it but two things can be true at once when giving a personal interpretation of the meaning of that scene.

Armin asked, "You knew Hell was one step beyond the walls. You might die horribly, like my mom and dad did. So why did you want to go?" Eren replied, "Why? You know why. Because I was born into this world!" And Eren's eyes widening wasn't rage, it was hope. A hope that what Willy said next would be "The people of Paradis were also born into this world and don't wish to die." Instead, it was "so join me in fighting the devils of Paradis." To which all of the world's powers broke out in applause. Eren then closed his eyes to their lives and told Reiner, "It's as I thought. We are the same... I keep moving forward until my enemies are destroyed." That moment was the last hope of peace dying. Reaffirming that it's kill or be killed to Eren.

2024-04-17 18:44:22 +0000 UTC"Because I was born into this world" "Why do I keep hearing that phrase?" - Haylee It's echoing the words Eren's mom used when she told Commander Keith Shadis, who was in love with her but is now the trainer of the Scouts and was also the Scouts leader before Erwin, why she didn't care if Eren was special or not. Also if you go back to the moment Tybur utters those words you see Eren's eyes intensify with what I assume is absolute rage. P.S. I'm pretty sure Willie's people probably got wind that Eren was in Marley because of the letters he sent. Remember that non-Tybur Eldians are spied upon by the Marleyan government. However it seems the Tyburs are the "hand behind the shadows" as mentioned by Commander Theo Magath in the first encounter we see of the two. So he probably found out that Eren was around but oddly didn't provide that info to the top Marleyan military brass. I wonder why????? ๐ค...๐

2024-04-17 16:49:01 +0000 UTCReiner and Eren are the same. both believing what they were doing is right, even with contrary information they now share to that effect. They are the same. This show does a great job of showing personal disposition and how as a species we prioritise those we care about over the "other" and for that reason alone; The context and the masterful way this has been shown and reflects real world scenarios which are aligned with fictional monsters and a great set of stories, motivations and characters is what makes this one of the best stories ever written. It makes a fool of all of us and for me that is what will stay with me personally as one of the best art forms ever brought to the big screen. I consider it as great of a story as lord of the rings. It has changed the way i see the world many times over and continues to do so. I am glad you are enjoying it as much as i did!
