I'd highly recommend watching the opening and ending for S4. I know people here are obsessed with this idea of a pure reaction (which is impossible, btw) but I think it really sets the tone for the season and it's so cryptic you'll never notice any plot point.

I cry too whenever I watch the scene where they finally get to see the sea. Armin in particular. Hard to believe we’re going into season 4, feels like I just started watching with you guys! You can’t really prepare yourselves for what’s to come, so I recommend just holding on for the ride haha. It’s a wild one.

No, Eren can't see memories of the pure titans by touching them, u misread that. It's just that now they know that every pure titan was a human who was driven to Paradis by Marli and they turned them into titan. So in this scene where Eren touching titan he is simply feeling sorry for him

Armin desired freedom for exploration and discovery. Eren desires freedom for a world free of subjugation. That is why at the beach, Eren asks whether killing all of their enemies will suffice to achieve freedom. Same desire, different dream! Notice how Eren didn’t even hold the shell that Armin shared. It’s symbolizing that they both don’t share the same dreams.

Any predictions for season 4? It's going to be a ride, I'm not sure if you already know but studio mappa took over the show after season 3. Mikasa looking so happy in this episode for like the first time just made me feel so many things, Happiness is something we almost never see so it was really enjoyable to experience the other members of the scouts. and their encounter with the ocean. But when you finally get to Eren it's just totally different.

Adding on to what you guys were saying, a big part of the tragedy imo is that seeing the sea *was* good enough for Armin, he was thrilled to finally see one of the sights his book talked about. The way I read it, Armin's realizing that he and Eren possibly never shared the same dream--or their dreams diverged at some point. Seeing the sandy snowfields, firey water, lands of ice, that's all the actual dream for Amrin but for Eren seeing those sights merely represented the idea of being free. He's not interested in looking at the shell Armin found or enjoying the moment with his goofy friends at the beach, he's thinking about killing his enemies.

I remember watching this episode for the first time trying to figure out how the direction of the story was going to go after this season. Hope y’all enjoy the final season as much as I did.
