2024-04-11 02:25:42 +0000 UTCmight be too late of a comment but I have noticed on multiple watch that we never actually learned of Erwin's dream till this episode. He just always said he had a dream but not until his final moment did we find out about it. As he raises his hands just like he did when he asked his father "How did they check that there are no more humans outside of the walls?". That was his dream to check if he and his father's theory that there are still people outside of the walls. And that his father had to tell in in secret about his theory and his dad disappeared after a while. And I don't know if you guys noticed it, but in the quick flashbacks of the military police that change was interrogating there are quick pictures of him torturing Erwin's father and also chasing Armin's parents who tried to go over the walls with hot air balloon.

2024-03-28 21:24:44 +0000 UTCThis might be the most intense episode, of the entire show. There’s one in season 4 that I think comes close, but this one? I cry every single time. When I first watched it Armin and Erwin were my two favorites so you can imagine how much this episode tore me up. I felt like Armin had to live but then the thought of losing Erwin???? It’s so heartbreaking!! Like you guys said, it’s not fair that Levi had to make a choice like that. Imagine letting the person closest to you die. Even if you’re doing it for selfless reasons, it’s just really horrible. Poor Levi. 😭 Poor Erwin. 😭 Poor Armin. 😭 Poor Bertholdt! 😭😭😭 This episode is just a masterpiece of torture.

The joy of not being selfish anymore, joining his fallen comrades in their selfless hope, and die not for his dream but for others around him in the most heroic way, was such a release for him, and almost a thank you he sent to everyone that sacrificed their life under his command. I'm not crying, you're crying ! "Heck" with these reactions xD

2024-03-28 17:52:55 +0000 UTCIt's not only that Levi wanted to put Erwin to rest after he had given up on his dream on visiting the basement - I think its also a fact that Erwin scope was much more limited like literally getting to the basement and even when Levi asked him before "what do you plan then" he was like "I dunno know". Then Levi heard Armin the night before they set off that he wants to visit the ocean and beyond after they're done with retaking the wall. So Armin had much more broader scope - bigger dreams and they were selfless. Erwin dream was directly influenced from his father - he was basically serving his father wish in a selfish way. And even if Erwin fulfilled that limited dream he did not had any vision to proceed further. In the end Levi realized that Erwin threw away his selfishness for them all to win thru and that's the way to go for. So if Levi picked Erwin he would be going selfish and that would be against the wishes of the selfless choice the Erwin made. Erwin would have also picked Armin. And he did by admitting that his selfish dream of *just* visiting the basement was not worth it. Its actually Armin dreams that will drive them forward as he is a visionary.

He also remembered how Erwin actually thanked him when Levi asked him to forget about his dream. So when Erwin finally gave up on his dream for "Victory" Levi couldn't just bring him back. So he chose to let him finally rest in peace.. that's how I saw it at least. :')

(and again... and again...lol) I've watched your demon slayer reactions also and just wanted to say that I know the story and dialogue hit extra hard when it actually makes Haylo cry with the rest of us 😭 lol In this episode we also learned Reiner's "true" titan name: "The PLOT Armored Titan" 🤣 lmao he keeps getting away somehow

The more people he lost under his command the heavier the burden became to prove his dad right. In the end Levi understood that his dear friend Erwin just had to be given a final peace. However Levi also has a promise he has to fulfill for Erwin. So keep that in mind. Furthermore, maybe this is just me, but the scene of Armin being pulled out of his Titan with Eren, Mikasa and the gang surrounding him just gives me "resurrection of Christ" vibes. I don't know if it was intentional but it struck a chord with me in that manner. P.S. The next episodes leading to the end of season 3 are good and they will reveal a lot information. Lastly, Season 4 hits even HARDER! Almost every episode is a banger episode. If it's not it's preparing you for a banger episode(s) that will follow in its wake. Hard to believe but this show just gets better, and BETTER, all the way to the end. I hope you ladies are ready.
