2023-10-10 15:56:22 +0000 UTCit's a simple instance of this, but there's many many many other translations that i cant tell you why they're slightly off without ruining or spoiling something. just remember that crunchy roll translations are usually the ones that everyone goes for if possible and the subs do matter :D still tho, love the reaction, and it didnt take away from it, especially the hilarious gag reflex moment, first time i've seen that gag reflex, most reactors just jump into panic or "waaaaaa" moment

But Fyi not sure what streaming service you were using to watch this episode, but a usual recommendation is for people to watch the show on crunchyroll, mostly because some of the translated subtitles here are actually very different and kinda lose their "umph" on netflix and some other streaming services, compared to crunchy roll's subtitles. Even something as simple as when tanjiro is saying that he could have been like gyotaru and in the end he said "but even if i somehow turned into a demon...", in this translation, he said "a demon slayer will decapitate me for the greater good." but the original translation that's on crunchy roll said "... someone in the demon slayer corps, would do me the favor of beheading me." which is a more personal take on him believing in his demon slayer friends to save HIM and everyone from himself, and not just because it's just this distant greater good thing... in fact it lines up more with how rengoku also rejected being a demon due to his mom's teachings, which now tanjiro is also taking to heart as well.

I've yet to see one in manga and anime that hasn't made me feel a range of emotions. Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku is still my fav though! - Kunaives
