“I’m sorry but it’s going to take a while to get their souls back as it is currently evidence in the case against Bellatrix Lestrange,” Moody told them while they were standing in the middle of the busy Auror department.
Harry, Nymphadora, and Fleur were disappointed to hear that, however, at least they were satisfied to know that they’ll get their loved ones back, at least they know their souls are safe in this place, there’s nothing to worry about.
“Don’t worry, the case is being built at an incredible speed and I think that in less than a week we’ll be able to get their souls back,” Moody told them in a surprisingly comforting tone.
That really helped Harry, Fleur, and Nymphadora to feel better, it felt good to know that not everything was lost, Harry was happy that trials in the magical world aren’t the same as his mother told him they were in the muggle world where it usually takes years for the trial.
“You should all get some rest, I recommend you to get back to Potter mansion, the place is completely monitored, so, in case those fuckers decide to attack again, my guys are going to give them a well-deserved welcoming,” the older Auror told them with an assuring tone.
“Yes, you two should get back, we have a lot of work here,” Nymphadora said to the blonde and the emerald-eyed wizard.
But her words caused Moody to look at her with a confused expression.
“What?” She asked the older man.
“You’re not staying here, you are a victim and also a witness, you can’t be part of the case Tonks, I’m sorry, you should take a well-deserved break,” the older Auror said with a serious tone.
Tonks wanted to refuse his proposal, but the expression on his face was telling her he was having none of it, it seemed like he already made a decision and nothing was going to make him change.
“Tonks…Fleur and Harry need you more than we need you here,” the experienced Auror said in a low tone as he looked at Harry and Fleur.
They were sharing a hug as they let Nymphadora and Moody have a conversation between them, they were aware that as Aurors, there were some things they weren't allowed to hear for security reasons.
Nymphadora wanted to stay but in the end, she saw that Moody was right, she couldn’t abandon her friends, not after what happened, so, she nodded and in the end, decided to do what Moody told her to do.
“Okay…I guess we should better get going,” Tonks said with a weak smile on her face.
“Please do that, take care of them…Oh, by the way, Auror Tonks,” Moody said as he was ready to return to his duties.
“Yes?” Nymphadora asked with a raised brow.
“Good job back there catching Bellatrix,” the older wizard chuckled after saying this and then, he disappeared and got lost in the crowd of Aurors that were moving around the place.
The metamorph was shocked, this was the first time her mentor and colleague had praised her Auror skills, she never thought it would come the day when she would get something like that from him and she couldn’t help but smile.
“Shall we get going, Tonks?” The metamorph heard Harry’s voice and she looked back at him with a smile on her face.
“Yes, let’s go,” the female Auror agreed and a few moments later, they were back at Potter Manor.
They showed their IDs and the Aurors who were in charge of guarding the area let them enter without too much questioning.
This experience has been so shocking for the three of them and even though it seems like everything was over, the fact that their loved ones and friends weren’t here was something that made the trio feel empty, however, Fleur and Nymphadora were especially worried about Harry as he was the one who lost the most here.
“Ah…I never realized how empty this house is,” the younger man said in a serious tone.
“Are you okay Harry? You can talk with us if you want to vent some things,” offered the French witch with a soft smile, and Harry could only smile back at her.
“Thank you, Fleur...How do I feel? Well…I’m alive, and even though my loved ones are on the way to getting back to life, I still feel scared,” he admitted with a shocked expression.
The two women could understand the way he felt, these past few days had been full of surprises especially for him, to know that you have a Horcrux inside you must be a very shocking thing to know.
“I wish I stayed here to fight alongside them,” Harry said in a worried tone.
“You would’ve died if that happened,” the metamorph told him with a weak smile on her face.
“Yes, and even though I hate the idea of dying, at least with that, death eaters wouldn’t have the need to come after my family and loved ones just to get the piece of the soul of their master,” Harry admitted with a defeated tone.
Nymphadora couldn’t help but chuckle.
“What’s so funny, dear Dora?” Asked the French witch as she hugged the metamorph from behind.
“Oh nothing, nothing…I was just feeling a little envious of Harry’s mentality,” the older woman admitted.
“Care to elaborate?” Harry questioned with a slight smirk and a raised brow.
“Well, I don’t know if I’m misunderstanding things but I feel like you’re under the impression that without Voldemort's piece of soul, those people would have suddenly stopped doing what they’ve been doing for decades,” the older witch couldn’t help but chuckle again.
“You’re right…I’m sure many are just using this as an excuse to create mayhem and chaos and don't really care too much about the blood purity bullshit,” the French witch couldn’t help but say, what Nymphadora told them made sense.
“Harry…Those people are unstoppable, if they lose their reason to fight they are going to find one…According to investigations, they were even planning to turn a young boy into their leader because they believed him to be the reincarnation of Voldemort but at some point, they stopped that, no doubt knowing about the Horcruxes changed their minds,” the metamorph couldn’t help but say before chuckling once again.
“I just wish there was a way to destroy them without having to kill the vessel,” Fleur couldn’t help but say.
Nymphadora was about to call her off for saying something so depressing but Harry stopped her.
“Actually, there might be a way to do that, but it’s complicated,” Harry admitted.
“What are you talking about Harry?” Asked the Auror with a raised brow.
Harry was a little hesitant about what he was planning to do, but in the end, if they wanted to end the war, they needed to work together, so, he didn’t say anything he just told them to follow him to his parents’ studio.
“Harry, what are we doing here?” Asked Nymphadora with a worried expression.
“I want us to make a magical contract...I want you two to not tell anyone what you’re about to see, this is a situation that could get a lot of innocent people in trouble, so, if you promise to not tell anyone, I’ll gladly share something with you,” Harry said with a serious tone.
Fleur and Nymphadora were a little concerned, but in the end, they nodded and soon, their hands started to glow, if anyone here breaks the promise, it could cost them their lives.
Harry suddenly pushed the bookshelf revealing the secret button and after pushing the button, he got his hands once again on the notebook his mother had been hiding under the secret tile, the two women were confused but the moment they saw the contents they gasped after they realized that that Lily has been investigating about Horcruxes, they couldn't help but open their eyes wide open at this point.
