“Well, I guess this is all,” Andy said with a weak smile on his face as he stared at some boxes that were on the floor.

He was back home for the last time, he was about to move out and he needed to pick the important stuff that he was going to need for this next step in his life, he was finally moving out, and he was so happy because he finally was going to be free and no one was going to boss him around anymore.

“Don’t use too much water when you take a shower!” “Use more water when you wash the dishes!” “Do you think the electric power doesn't cost us!?” “Come on, light that part of the car's engine better…No, no in that way you idiot…You know what? I’ll do it myself, you’re useless, thanks for nothing!”

Those were the most memorable memories Andy had of this house, so many stories, traumas, bad experiences, and difficult situations that many of them were created by himself, and others were just a consequence of him committing the greatest sin one could commit…Being an unwanted child. He quickly shook his thoughts off and stared at what he was going to take to his new apartment, he couldn’t help but smile as he looked at his life being reduced to just a couple of boxes.

“Okay, I have all the clothes I bought by myself in one box, my ten-volume manga collection in another box, my gaming chair in its original box and the last one is the box where I have my pc and all the things I need to make it work, okay it seems like have the UPS too, the HDMI cable, my keyboard…I’m going to take the desktop like this, I’m not going to dismount it and…Oh, that’s right…” Andy suddenly said with a surprised tone before he stopped looking around his stuff and he suddenly started to look around his room.

He was looking everywhere but then he looked under his bed and he there found the box of a USB piano keyboard he uses when he makes music, so, he quickly dismounted the keyboard and got it inside the box and with these few things, he was ready to see the guys the moving out company sent.

He didn’t need anything else, the apartment where he was going to live now had everything, it had a fridge, a stove, satellite TV, optical fiber internet with amazing speed, it had all the services, so, he didn’t need to worry about that, the place was so amazing that he didn’t mind the fact that he was going to use a stranger’s bed to sleep from today onwards, he had slept in worse places in the past.

The guys arrived almost an hour later after he called the company and luckily, today was Monday and it was so early that he knew he wouldn’t be able to see his parents for the last time until god only knows how long and he was fine by that, he didn’t want to talk with them, he knew that if he talks with them for the last time, nothing but drama is going to happen, so, he prefers to avoid that stuff and focus on the good things, he hates drama.

He knows they’re going to be happy because he’s not going to live here anymore, they can finally live like they always wanted to, and he in exchange is going to live in a very cool area, everybody wins, and this was just the start, Andy had savings, he made some calculations and he concluded that those savings could last him for at least four months, so, he was going to take his time to work on his music and his projects, this was going to be epic, he needed to make sure to take advantage of this opportunity he has managed to get by himself.

“Yes, that’s all boys, now I’ll just call for a taxi to take us there,” Andy explained to the guys from the moving company and they nodded completely surprised after realizing that they only took a few things from this house.

Andy told the taxi driver where he wanted to go and the older man was surprised when he heard they were going to West Cactus, which was a very exclusive area but in the end, the man nodded, he was going to get paid anyway so, he obeyed without hesitating, the man was so committed to the grind that he would take Satan in his cab as long as he gets paid.

Andy closed his parents' house and he made sure the door and everything was completely locked, he took a look at the house for the last time with a weak smile on his face.

“Goodbye old friend, regardless of the things that happened here…It’s been fun, I don’t think we’re going to see each other once again unless I mysteriously die and they decide to celebrate my funeral here, but I doubt my parents would want that considering they don't believe in heaven or hell, so…Goodbye house, be careful of earthquakes and nuclear bombs,” Andy said as he waved the building goodbye before he entered the cab.

Little by little, he was saying goodbye to this neighborhood, the one where he had lived for most of his life, his family moved here when he was just five, back then his parents wanted to start a new life in a new place away from their family, Andy couldn’t help but feel nostalgic and a little sad as the neighborhood became more and more distant as time passed by.

He suppressed his tears, this was no time for regrets, he took a decision and he had to live with that for the rest of his life, suddenly, all the sadness turned into happiness, he was now seeing the future with hope, there was nothing for him in that neighborhood any longer, his childhood friends were now in college, some moved to other cities to work, some were dead and others missing, so, it was his turn to say goodbye forever to the suburbs.

“But the suburbs have no charms to soothe the restless dreams of youth…” The driver sang as the radio played Subdivisions by Rush.

Andy couldn’t help but feel that even though the ride of his life had been weird, at least the soundtrack was good, he smiled as he looked outside the window as they left the normal area and entered a highway, and ten minutes later, close to the hills, they finally reached the entrance of the exclusive area known as West Cactus.

Andy, the taxi driver, and the guys from the moving company were about to get shot by the security of the place, but Andy quickly showed a credential that proved he could be allowed to enter the area from today onwards.

He visited the place yesterday with Anna and she made sure to put him on her list of people allowed to use her home, which means that now he was allowed to freely move in the area, he wasn't an owner, but thanks to Anna being the owner of the place, he now had the right to live here too.

“Oh…Yes, everything’s in order Mr. Richards, please, allow us to take you there,” one of the guards called for two other guards who were holding AR-15s which was something that instead of making Andy feel fear, it made him feel safe, this was America after all.

The guard entered the taxi and led the driver to the area where Andy’s new place was located, he indeed called them apartments, well they were for rich people but for someone like Andy, all these places were mansions.

The area was very well guarded because not only there was vigilance at the entrances, but there seemed to be vigilance on the outskirts of the area and in each house too, Andy was feeling so safe right now, and as soon as the cars stopped, he paid the taxi driver and the guards that followed him in the taxi came back to the entrance as the taxi driver left the area from the same place he entered.

“Ah…What an amazing sight…This is my new home!” Andy said with a happy expression.

The place was so fancy and it seemed expensive as fuck, he never thought he could manage to live in a place like this, well, not without killing a few people to achieve this, but he managed to get it without harming himself or other people and this was all thanks to Lucian.

Andy was so happy that he couldn’t contain himself any longer, so, at some point, it didn’t take too long for him to start crying, but the tears he was letting out in his new place were happy tears not sad tears, like the ones he always had in the old house.
