I think it's a combination of both where they meet halfway, both chasing a lead or following a path, only to bump into each other. Similar to Fitz-Simmons finding each other after Gravitron events

Who knows, maybe we'll even see an appearance of-- our almighty overlord, the Blue God, BEEBO! Probably not, but I'd like to see even the smallest appearance before the show ends.
