i have developed a hate for the word overrated, why the hell are people letting groups of random people let your thoughts and feelings when watching something affect our views. If alot of people loves demon slayer over anything else good for them because then they are happy when watching it. Sure think something is overrated but stating it is for me like telling people to not like it as much as they want or dislike it as much as they want.

I've always loved Gundam for the design of the suits, but never got into the story. I loved Code Geass for the story, but wasn't a big fan of the art. Full Metal Panic? is ok, but I prefer FMP? Fumoffu for the out of place/school life comedy. I fucking love Gurren Lagaan all the way through.

When you finish the series, I’d recommend watching the second movie as it improves upon the ending. It’s very good

I think the word "overrated" might be fair, but it's still fucking amazing in my opinion. Like people said before me. The same studio that made Unlimited Budget Works really went all out on several of the episodes and pushed it way over the top. I, and a lot of manga readers, think season 1 was much better than the manga material, which is a REALLY rare thing for an adaptation to achieve.

You are not. Dororo was loads better. Demon Slayer just checked all the boxes for normie anime viewers. Its the animation that holds it up. The story is quite weak in comparison to others of its genre.

@BeesKnees almost like people have opinions and different tastes, just because you think he is bland or bad MC doesn’t make it true, also nobody has to prove you wrong. It’s an opinion for a reason, I also doubt you’d change your mind regardless. I read the manga far before watching the and I find it to be incredible

I don't really see how you can prove wrong that Tanjiro is a good or interesting MC. He's pretty bland. And I don't want to specify that too much because of spoilers but it has to do with some villain reveals and deaths.

pretty sure it was deleted by a mod since i saw it up and it already had a like and BeeKnees i adressed all things you said in my post and proved them wrong but i guess there is no going back since it got deleted. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and what moments are you talking about that need more build up can you give an example or are you just saying stuff?

Ah I love the good old "people just hate on it because it's popular". Nah, it just has plenty of flaws and is pretty shallow writing-wise. Production-wise it's beautiful but in terms of character, story and worldbuilding I find it to be pretty weak. I find Tanjiro to be a weak MC with basically no flaws and zero depth so he's boring to follow. Muzan started out with potential to be an interesting character but ended up very disappointing and uninteresting. Some later moments that were portrayed to be emotional felt like they needed to have better build up or writing to support those scenes because they just didn't cut it for me. I thought most of the villains except for a small handful were uninteresting or repetitive. There are a couple solid characters but they don't make up for the rest of DS's shortcomings. There's just a lot of other better series out there I'd rather spend my time on.

For anyone who likes Demon Slayer, how were you introduced to it... I read the manga when it started so I read it for a bit but after getting a little further than what the anime covered I had to drop because Demon Slayer is exactly what it is. A completely Average show with some decent characters and some completely forgettable ones. I honestly cant even remember the main Villains name. I mean everyone calls him Michael Jackson not his real name. Yes I know it is a meme but its also indicative that the audience of the show doesn't have much respect for him as a villain. For example I never hear people in a community describing"L" from Death Note as some meme, there are memes about him but he himself isnt a meme. Demon Slayer's popularity is entirely dependant on the animation studio behind it. I dont like fan service at all and that is a turn off for me in this show, but its still decent I wouldnt put it in my top 10 I dont think but maybe top 15 or top 25. If any fans of the demon slayer show can explain to me why its good completely ignoring the anime, then @ me because I honestly would like to hear why people like it but its just so cliched and doesnt execute tropes well in my opinion, like Rick stated in the finale, Its fine, but I've seen it a million times in a million shows.

There are a lot of people who think it's overrated. This is just my opinion of course, but I think KNY is elevated heavily by its great production values. Certain criticisms are common for the series also: Tanjiro is mediocre, Muzan is not well-written, the ending and final arc/battle were not good, Nezuko has no actual character besides being cute and innocent, etc. I found Gurren Lagann to be absolutely better in virtually every aspect (directing, writing, animation, theming, OST, character designs, etc.). The first half is great and the entire second half of the series is legendary (especially the ending). Again, just my opinion

You're not the only one. It is for some people and for others it is not. I personally believe all the hype comes from the animation, so people are more accepting of the story/characters/flaws, etc. Its not a terrible show, but not worth the hype.

I wonder if we could petition to get them to watch the final fight from the second movie instead of the last episode or something. Or maybe in addition to the last episode. Always felt like that's what they wanted to do in the series, but didn't quite have the time to animate it.
