"The Timeless Children"

Doctor Who 12x10 Reaction - Early Access!

Comments

God I'm late to the party and I hate to add to the negativity but unfortunately as someone who has literally grown up with this show and who loves it more than life itself, the immense sadness, heartbreak and frustration that I feel at the pure apathy Chibnall has to the character of the Doctor and the quality of the show itself depresses me. Chibnall and the BBC over the last two years have sacrificed this show and what made it great for the sake of an attempt at ideological head bashing, so much so that the show has become a joke, and needs putting out of it's misery.

James Waters

christ, the episode is literally terrible in almost every conceivable way...

Thomas Joy

The Timeless child story is generally fine, and would've actually been a good addition to the lore of the series... had it been anybody apart from The Doctor, The Master or Rassilon, because we've seen all 3 of them DEAD on screen before.

I just feel that the plot twist of The Doctor being the timeless child would of been good writing if S11 was the the 1st season of Doctor Who, except it's not. It really seems like Chibnall has no respect for the the Lore of the show that has been established. Yes I agree that previous writers have changed plot points from previous writers, Though this is next level. The Doctor was such a powerful role model because there was nothing special about her/him (when it came to timelords) Now she is basically Jesus.

Riley Hunt

I like how we kept the tradition of the "What? What!? WHAT!?"

Jack Mapstone

I remember becoming a patron so I could see you guys react to the 9th doctor regeneration a week early, and three years later here I am. End of an era boys.

Dylan Pearson

Would love to see a reaction to the Modern Who Honest Trailer now that they would get all of the jokes.

OldManZero

Hopefully one day you guys will react to classic who from start to finish.

Robert

I'm not a fan of the timeless child reveal, but I think you could infer that Tecteun was the birth name of the Time Lord known as Rassilon, since he was showed to be between two other Time Lords, that you could also infer to be Omega and the Other. I think Chibnall really wanted to unify the canon, but I particularly liked that Doctor Who didn't do that. Because it's very likely that in nine years that won't matter anymore.

Duckman

Feels like the end of an era. 3 years of you guys playing catch-up 😒. Now you have to wait like the rest of us.

Morgan Le Fay

Fucking finally

AnEnthusiasticKoala

Could you guys do a Doctor Who Q&A like what you did after the ATLA reactions? Itd be nice to see what all of you thought about these past three years.

reluctantmuggle

Been awesome to share this journey with you, for me - sadly it does not end on a high note. I'm in the camp of people who really can't stand this re-write of the past. But, this episode Sacha really does nail it. I was quite happy to just have 13 asleep for most of it and let him shine. Looking forward to the future reactions with you guys!!

The Doctor

From what I recall, he also basically created the Time Lords out of regular Gallifreyans through genetic engineering, creating regeneration, as well as the 12-regeneration cycle.

Scribbles

The only thing that bugs me about the new history, is that Ruth's TARDIS was in the shape of the phone box, but if she was pre Hartnell, it doesn't make sense because it was under his Doctor that the TARDIS froze that way.

Secular Guy

Rassilon still did all the stellar engineering, still did all the stuff with the black hole and eye of harmony. I don't think classic who ever said that Rassilon created the regeneraations. That's all this explained.

Ged_UK

RE The Master. He's as fixed of a character in the show as the Doctor and the Daleks. They'll always be around.

Secular Guy

Three years catching up on Doctor Who and the last thing they hear is that sound. It's great! I'm so happy that Eric gets to yell about that one last time (for now).

CrossZ

Rule 1 shouldn't be "The Doctor lies." Rule 1 should be "The arch-villains always come back." :)

Firefly24601

Also, since he was in the middle of being attacked by nanogenes when we last saw him, that gives them more leeway to show either Captian Jack or The Face of Boe next time, in case John Barrowman isn't available for filming. I mean, fans will REVOLT if we don't see John Barrowman come back, but there is that option!

Firefly24601

Apparently now Rassilon is no longer the architect of the Time Lords and the Doctor is now a godlike being who introduced regeneration to Gallifrey through....magic? Nope, don't like it. I was with you up until this, Chibnall. Do better. BUT what I did like were your reactions over the years. I came here for Game of Thrones and stayed for Black Sails, Cowboy Bebop, Vikings and Doctor Who. Not sure what reactions of yours I'll watch next. Fingers crossed that The Last Kingdom or something like that wins a poll sometime. I think you guys would like it.

Scribbles

they managed to add to previous DW lore without changing the character of the Doctor and only contradicting a single semi-major plot point whilst also clearing a plot hole from Old-Who. For Doctor Who id say that's a bloody miracle.

Blind Wave Doctor Who Catchup Reactions: 19 Apr 2017 - 24 June 2020. It'll be interesting to see which of the crew join Aaron and Melanie for the festive special and then the next season.

Firefly24601

that'd be cool ! mine was that he would go get the fam to plan a breakout

Kevin Gil

also the Master escaping certain death with absolutely no explanation given is kind of a running joke in Dr Who (he did it all the time in Classic Who as well)

Kevin Gil

"Three years to get to that damn sound." Absolutely prefect, Eric's great. My theory after I saw this for the first time, is Jack was being chased for stealing a ship he got caught and is in the same prison.

Daniel Sessions

so glad you're finally caught up ! congratulations

Kevin Gil

What a journey it has been...
