Black Sails 4x10 Finale Reaction Early Access!

Comments

Yes, and this is the only video it’s happening on.

I am :/

Thank you for this journey, it truly has been amazing. I have so many thoughts on it all, the show for the 100th rewatch and your reactions, but I'll just leave a thank you and a few thoughts. I also think and believe Flint got his happy ending with Thomas, and as JojoInSpace said, it fits a lot with Flint's hope in season 1, where he wants to end up. I love how the show ended even if I wish Silver would've done things differently. I love all these characters so much and it really is a show you can watch time after time and discover and love many new great details. I love the finale and where we leave them, it makes me happy and sad at the same time, but it just is an awesome ending. But I feel like this show will also never be over because of how rewatchable it is :D So, thank you again, guys. It's been a blast!

Anyone else getting a “video unavailable”?

That intro got me. First of all, I just want to say - thank you for watching and reacting to this show. It's been such a joy to experience it again with you, but I've also been so happy every time someone has said that they started watching the show because of these reactions. I love this show, and it deserves more recognition - because I really think it's a masterpiece. I started watching this show when it first came out, because I heard it was a prequel to Treasure Island (which is to this day, one of my favourite books. I love it to bits). And it became a show that's meant a lot to me. That aside, I'm sad the journey is over. It's been amazing watching you guys grow to love this show, shout at this show and fall in love with the characters. Really, it's been a highlight, every week. I bawled my eyes out first time around, this time I fared a little better, but still. It's rough, because it feels somehow like it's ending again. But I agree, it's... fascinating how many happy endings we got. Not BIG happy endings, because there was no revolution and freedom, but small ones. Which perhaps was all they could have for now. To add to the debate in these comments: I 100% believe Flint got reunited with Thomas. Yeah, it's cool that it's slightly ambiguous and such, but at the same time... I buy it. For many reasons. Firstly, I don't think this show ever shows something that doesn't happen (even if it's sometimes in a character's mind, like Flint's dreams). It tells lies sometimes, but it's a show that always ALWAYS trusts its viewers and that doesn't show things that aren't true. It withholds information, but it doesn't tamper it or change it. Secondly, I think it fits much more thematically with the story. No big happy endings, but small ones, were people can find a few years of peace (and I do believe they payed for them to be released, or Flint is going to be out of there with Thomas in week). It fits so well with how Flint quotes Odyssey in the first season. Because now, he finally reaches that point, that place, where he's so far from the sea that someone would "mistake that oar for a shovel". It fits to well to just be a "but haha, it was a lie". Thirdly, and perhaps most purely emotionally important to me - queer people so rarely get happy endings. In some countries, it is literally still forbidden to give queer people in fiction happy endings - and it was more common just a few years ago. So to have this is important, to so many. And I love this show for doing that. (Also, as a Treasure Island fan, it says that Flint died in Savannah - even if the details aren't exact, I like that it lines up.) Granted, I also believe that the core message of the show can be summarised in Jack's monologue at the end. "A story is true. A story is untrue. As time extends it matters less and less. The stories we want to be believe... Those are the ones that survive." - and I know which story I want to believe, and that's the story that's true for me. And I love the way Black Sails phrases that, and plays with the very idea of story-telling and history. Because in the end, this is a work of fiction, talking about real history, and some real people, and it's all fiction in the end. But can't we just believe some of it, a little bit? I think we do, in part, when it's a historical drama like this. And Black Sails is aware of that. As many have already pointed out, Mark Read is a cover name used here by Mary Read - a famous pirate who sailed with Anne Bonny and Jack Rackham. But hey, that's what fun about this show, to find out so many new things. I'm really looking forward to you summarising your thoughts and answering questions! So happy you're doing that. And it means I can pretend it's not yet over. (As for Treasure Island, so many characters in this are from that - Silver, Flint, Billy, Madi, Ben Gunn, Israel Hands, Tom Morgan... Love those details. Fun fact, my favourite adaption of TI is the Muppet's and also Treasure Planet - which has Israel Hands as the character of Scroop, and he terrified me as a child.) Anyway. Essay comment over, for now. Looking forward to hearing you talk more about this show (and for you to discover the amazing amount of fantastic fanvids out there for Black Sails! Really, it's amazing). Glad to have been with you for this journey. Here's to many rewatches in the future, because this show deserves it.

JojoInSpace

Is it sad that I saved the full reaction but haven't watched it because then it will be over?

MelGoethals

The reason why Silver doesn't just walk away from it is because he knows that Madi wouldn't follow him, and he doesn't want to lose her. Thus, he either has to go along with her and Flint's war, or he has to end it.

I couldn't wait for next Monday for your reaction to the finale so I paid the $5 just to watch this. Just to let you know, Mark Reed is actually Mary Reed. She makes herself look like a man so that she can sail. She was also a real life pirate that sailed with Jack Rackham and Anne Bonnie.

MrTabs64

I just... feel so empty now. I have nothing to do on Mondays anymore. Y'all were the last group I've enjoyed reacting to this to finish. And it feels so bitter sweet. Thank you for this ride. I loved working through this series again. I hope y'all rank this as high on your list of favorites as I do. It was an amazing, AMAZING show.

Holy shit has Rick always had that shirt?

Woodes Rogers was released from debtors prison and ended up helping to write a world renowned book (for its time) on pirates, which made him famous again. He returned to Nassau as the Govenor for a second time where he supposedly cleared out the pirates. He remained there until he died.

"A story is true, a story is untrue..." The writers of show came out saying the end was up for interpretation and supposed to be your choice. With the startled birds, as if there was a shoot, the dreamlike quality of Flints reunion, I believe Silver lied. I think he never really changed, he was always weak and selfish. So that's the end I choose :) Even if Silver had legit reasons for wanting to end 'the war' and I believe he doesn't why doesn't he just walk away, instead of deciding it for all of them. If you put it into perspective, this could have been the theoretical start of America, yet is wasn't because of one selfish man ;)

yes, that happend in assassins creed:black flag too, with mary and anne

IRL Mary "Mark" Read was with Calico Jack and Anne Bonny when they were finally captured. Both Mary and Anne"s hangings were postponed because they were pregnant. Mary died of fever and there is no record of her execution.

Just my opinion on the end, I think Silver killed Flint on that island. Unfortunately!! Thank you guys for your reactions every week, so sad it's over!

Lauren Kallio

As much as I'd like to believe the happy ending where Flint finds Thomas I just can't. There's no way Silver got Flint off that island. Silver had to have pulled the trigger, the birds flying away during the silent scene with the rest of silver's men indicate as much.

Michael Harrop

Great watching Black Sails again along with you guys! Really was too bad that the show was not watched by a lot more people. I would always ask people if they watched it while it was still on air and most of the time they'd say they never heard of it. Maybe if it would've been on HBO instead of Stars it might've had many more viewers. It was basically the quality of Game of Thrones but with pirates.

Glynn Rockwell

This show really glorified pirates. Pirates were not fighting for "freedom" like 'Murica! Also the British Empire grew massively during the 19th century, so it wasnt the end of supposed "Tyranny".

Paul Richardson

Yah, there are a good amount of people who agree with the theory that Silver actually killed Flint and lied about it to Madi.

Just my take on the ending but I think Silver wanted Flint to agree to walk away with him and let the war end. If Flint had then he probably would've been like "I know where Thomas is, let's go get him now". But it was clear that Flint wasn't letting the war go that easily so Silver went with his "end this some other day" plan, which was to send Flint to the same penal colony he knew Thomas was at. And the tragedy of Silver in the finale is that he thinks he's getting everything he wants but, as Flint warns, one day he will realize what he gave up and want it back. Cue "Treasure Island" when he goes back not just for the cache but to reclaim some sense of his old self.

Charlotte

i really really liked the final.it sets up treasure island perfectly.i think the writers once said that what we saw is what happend to flint in their story.but they also left it to he viewers to choose their ending.maybe silver actually shot flint and just made up the story for madi and everyone.afterall...silver is a genius at making up storys...but as good as the final was i also feel disapionted we did not get to see the war.yes most of our guys would have died and we know that the pirates cant win but at least they would die fighting for their freedom!we knew the war vs england would be bloody and everyone was on board with it back in season 3 when that all started.and i hate that silver just quit and didnt go to the end.it makes the deaths of vane and blackbeard pointless!!they gave their lifes for this...i dont know man...but its still great ending to one of my favorite shows of all time!!!!thanks for watching guys!!

Bettina Surber

Rick/Eric "It's never over if never watch it" that was my logic over 3 years ago & it took you guys reacting to it from season 1 to RIGHT NOW for me to finish the last two episodes... You guys rejuvenated my love for the show refreshed my memory on all the plot lines now I push play! Thanks BlindWave... I'm finally at peace 🙇🏿‍♀️

Breanna

Indeed! I'm still crying

They paint the world full of shadows and then tell their children to stay close to the light. Their light. Their reasons, their judgements. Because in the darkness, there be dragons. But it isn't true. We can prove that it isn't true. In the dark, there is discovery, there is possibility, there is FREEDOM in the dark :') Thank you guys for these amazing months together! I really hope you'll watch this masterpiece of a show again and again, so that you can appreciate even the least detail

Mark Read is actually Mary Read a known female pirate. That's why she (he) looks strange, because its a female acting like a man.

Victor Törner

Nvm it works now lol

It says video unavailable, anyone else has this problem?

same

You guys need to react this amazing fan video called "Black Sails- The End" by King Fireman https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=%23&ved=0ahUKEwjo0pXO8qveAhUFhOAKHWslD60Qxa8BCCYwAA&usg=AOvVaw0VTJzWxrN8ZFOD4xbU2nov

I would love to see them react to the trailers and behind the scenes

Henry Gibson

I'm scared to watch because it's the end ;-;

PCGaming

It's alright. You can't remember Mark Read because it's a made up name. However, look up Mary Read. She ended up teaming up with Jack Rackham and Anne Bonny in 1720.

Scribbles

Mark Read is Mary Read. She and Anne Bonny became two of the most famous female pirates, and sailed with Jack Rackham until their capture. Mary was executed and Anne disappears from the historical record. There is also some historical revisionism. Jack Rackham died before Charles Vane. So, even if we we accept the story of Black Sails, Jack, Anne and Mark only have maybe another few months of freedom. Which makes Jack's ending even more tragic.

David

Man, what a journey! You guys are the best. I'm glad you liked it, this show means a lot to many of us, and I know you're on the hook now ;) Many happy re-watches to all of you!

Jude Miller

Man that song at the start makes me wish they'd talk about Treasure Planet now; that's a great adaption of Treasure Island!

Able

Can't believe this is going to be the last one 😢
