It's been taken down :( NOOOOOO They did the same thing with THREE one punch man episodes.

The fingers in the balls thing is to check for hernias, and unless you have a bad doctor, it is something that is normally done for sports physicals. Or any other physical if you have a physically intense job, or if you complain about pain/burning in like the crease of your legs/crotch.

I watched this when it first aired back in '02, so when Obidiah Stane whipped out his sonic paralysis device in "Iron Man", I thought it was the same kind of thing the Hands-Of-Blue guys used in this episode.

It's totally in sync with Jayne's personality, but Mal's reaction is also very much in character- every part of it. Loyalty is everything to him. His crew is his life (there's this idea that each member of the crew represents something that he lost in the war, and having them nearby is how he holds on to those things). More to the point, any sort of betrayal of those bonds is pretty much the worst thing you can do to him.
But on the other hand, the fact that Jayne didn't want the others to know what he did shows true remorse and regret. It's not about him trying to avoid dying. In that moment he's accepted his death, and is concerned about his legacy. And even though Mal felt betrayed, ultimately Jayne was a part of his crew, just like Simon and River. Losing Jayne would have been a necessity before, but it would still hurt him. Seeing Jayne show true remorse makes Mal decide he deserves a second chance.

Looks better in red as opposed to blue.

Never understood why Mal took it so personal. It totally in sync with Jayne personality and how he recruited them. PLus they are the only one that did not choose to be in the ship but were forced into it. And also if the they were going to make a scene about it they should have killed Jayne and be done with it.

Really good episode, but the next one is tied for my second favorite with Out of Gas.
