I agree that he is manipulative but people were talking him about possessing her by just jumping from one person to another yes he could manipulate her into agreeing bur she still has to agree he can't just over her body like some people were suggesting that's all I meant but yes I agree he is sneaky and manipulating and could trick her into saying yes

I think the poll question as it was worded is unfair for Mary but I still voted in Mary's favor because I can empathize with her position and I believed she was in Heaven like a previous comment stating why. This is such a shock to her and she needs mourning time for what she loss. The boys had 30 years and she doesn't know the issues Dean and Sam had. All see had was John's journal to see the life she didn't want any of her boys to have.

Lucifer is very tricky and manipulative, he may play on Mary's haywire emotions, confusion and culture shock to trick her into it.

Everyone keeps talking about Marys decision to leave is a bad one but as a mother myself I can empathise with her, if I had died when children were small and then come 30 years later to find the world changed and my kids all as adults I would have to have some time alone to process it all. Yeah it's selfish but it's also reasonable for her to feel that way she's trying to adjust and Dean is trying to act like nothing is wrong. Also people keep saying lucifer is going to possess this person or that person , he can't just possess anyone he has to have permission he's not a demon he's an angel and angels need permission

In response to Eric's theory on Mary's spirit being destroyed in season 1 - I think it was explained that what was in the house was simply an echo of her spirit and her drive to protect her children. When she died she still went to her own little personal heaven - and we can gather from what she said in this episode that her heaven was her with John and Sam and Dean just living life. when she was brought back its torn her world apart. As long as she can eventually learn to love the present Sam and Dean i don't really have a problem with this emotional drama. However saying that i have niggly theory in the back of my mind screaming that Lucifer will possess Mary for a while :(

I couldn't help but see things from Dean's point-of-view. Their father did nothing but abandon them constantly to go hunts instead of being their father when they needed him the most. Dean clearly felt abandoned all over again. Jensen Ackles did a very good job conveying Dean's hurt and anger at her decision. I also can't help but remember the episode where Dean faced a nightmare version of himself that taunted him by saying that everyone abandoned him and it was his fault.

It was sad that she left them again but I think when she was possessed by the spirit she saw and felt things that scared her. She must be so overwhelmed by everything!

Pretty crappy parent decision to leave your kids just as they are reunited with you, in my opinion. She has been in heaven the last 20 some odd years, while they have been fighting their asses off, so why is she the one upset
